The author aims to show how to exercise faith in everyday life. Dr Helen Roseveare was a medical missionary with WEC in the Congo and spent five months in captivity during the rebellion in 1964. A personal testimony of faith in action.

This book is an intense personal testimony of a missionary's daily living in carrying out her Divinely inspired commission. It is unusually balanced in covering her experiences from the standpoint of Spirit, Soul and Body. Most testimonies cover only one or two standpoints, but rarely all three. Helen has a strong sense of God's sovereignty, is never embittered by her circumstances, regardless of how outwardly negative, and remains keenly focused, regardless of the confusion and misunderstanding of others surrounding and interacting with her. She is a faithful minister, steadfastly carrying out her commission even at the risk of her physical life and reputation.
There are many touching personal stories, but the one that continues to bring me to tears of joy and inspiration is the one about the eight-year-old orphan girl's simple and direct prayer that was answered three months before it was uttered. It still sends chills down my spine every time I reread it. If you are looking for a strengthening of your faith, practical examples of faith in action and strong emotional involvment, this is the book for you.

I purchased the Living series of books by Helen Roseveare.
The series I bought was Living Faith, Living Holiness and Living Faith. I would recommend this series anyone interested in truth about mission work.
Miss Roseveare served in the African Congo as a Missionary Nurse-doctor, teacher.
She is very transparent and shares her first-hand struggles and victories involved in being a woman alone with God in starting a mission work in the dark continent. She faces abuse from rebels during the time of the Congo's struggle for independence...yet she is able to forgive and return several years later to continue the work.
