A good quality Blu-ray player. The Blu-ray parts work fine. It is easy to set up and connect to other parts of your AV system. If you connect it to your home network and run the included Nero software to let it see your PC or other network storage via DLNA, you can play .avi, .mkv or other commonly used video files from anywhere on your network.
The extra apps make all the difference though.
There are several low quality LG Apps which can be safely ignored.
There are also a dozen or so "Premium Apps" like BBC iPlayer, Netflix, Lovefilm, Youtube etc. If you have to pay for the service normally, you will have to pay to use them on this player. If the service is free (like iPlayer or Youtube), it is free on the player too. These make it very convenient to watch films and programmes streamed from the internet.
The Netflix and Lovefilm apps are fine, if a little clunky because of the unavoidable need for a remote-control-friendly interface. (Mini review of Netflix vs Lovefilm for streaming: Netflix = a bit less film choice but many more TV programmes. A lot of HD quality with many of these in Digital sound too. Lovefilm = more film choice but not much TV. But even HD films only have stereo sound, not Digital surround.)
However, it seems the latest update of 11th June 2012 broke iPlayer. It currently will not stream anything. I'll update the review if this changes in future patches.
Overall, a good player, which should get 5 stars when BBC iPlayer works again.

Edit 25th August 2012
iPlayer updated and now works very well. Nice interface and good quality streaming, HD if available.
Up to 5 stars.

This player is allot better than the previous BD670, it loads discs faster and the menu is super responsive, would have had 5 stars but I can't locate the lovefilm app which was on the BD670 and is on Amazon's description as being on this player, it may be their but I can't find it

Update on June 1st has now added lovefilm and a few others so it is now a 5 star machine *****

The player arrived today and for the price it's an amazing piece of kit! 3D with built in wi-fi and very fast loading speeds for DVD / Blu-ray. Superb. In case you were wondering because I was, you can access the apps (Love Film ect...) with any model TV. You don't need an LG television. All you do is plug in the player, let it search for your wireless network. Add your password and you're done. I checked two of my go to Blu-ray discs (Avatar and Alien) both loaded fast, between ten and twenty seconds, both offered amazing picture quality. At present I don't own any 3D titles so I can't comment on this.

The apps are amazing. There's a free channel with the latest movie trailers, cinema, coming soon, DVD etc..., facebook, youtube, a weather channel, Love Film, Netflix, both of which offer hours and hours of streaming content (subscription required which is around a fiver a month.) There's a concert channel (also free) and Blinkbox (you can buy new films and television episodes - for example, the Big Bang Theory and True Blood including episodes that have only just aired on television), and there's a free section with lots of favourites.)

This machine has an optical input but no scart socket. But then, why would you need one?

Incredible value for money. If you want a new Blu-ray player don't look anywhere else.

This is a very good blu-ray player with Smart TV apps for the price. My only issue is that at the time of writing it does not include the Lovefilm app even though it is mentioned in the product description.

****UPDATE***
Lovefilm along with a few additional apps (Blinkbox, facebook) have now been add via a software update. Combined with the existing streaming services e.g. iPlayer, Netflix makes this product great value for money.

I have been looking to upgrade both my television and my blu ray player and initialy I was concidering purchasing the respective Samsung models but after reading review upon review and the cost I decided to settle on LG. I have to say I am not dissapointed as per my previous orders the service from Amazon has been brilliant and the product arrived in perfect condition. It took minutes to set this up and the instructions are very straight forward. Plug it in follow the on screen and let the player do everything else well almost everything else.

It is worth noting that if like me you use a Soundbar it is well worth purchasing an optical cable you should also note that If you use the player to access services such as Net flix which you access via the LG premium menu you should also go into setup and change the Audio to Bit stream it may also help to select a higher sampling rate it is set standard to 48khz I am currently trying 96 but you can also set this too 192 and already via Net flix I can see a difference in the sound quality.

I cannot give a review on 3D playback yet as I am still waiting to purchase my new television but the ease of access on both network files such as music and the apps available have probably made me a user of LG products for a very long time. I noted from other reviews problems with WiFi I must add that I have not experienced any issues with losing connection so far and I am on a standard broadband connection of between 5 - 8meg. I porbably should point out that I have only started using this product today so I will modify my review if i do start experiencing problems.

One last comment like most new products there is no HDMI cable included so remember to purchase one unless you already have a cable ready to use.
