The TV feels like it has a bigger screen than the 22" specified because of the thin edge around the outside. In fact the whole set looks very sleek and there are no big buttons sticking out, thanks to the touch sensitive main buttons on the front which allow the surround to be a smooth single unit.
The remote control is a nice fit in the hand, not huge like some controls, but with good sized buttons all the same, which helps you find the right button easily. Red button services are included with the built-in freeview.
The Freeview signal with an indoor remote was patchy (because of where I live, rather than the set) but the ease of setting up meant that I wasn't searching around for more channels for very long. When it does show a channel, the LED screen is bright and clear with very good dark and black colours. The backlight makes a huge difference to the picture quality.
As a monitor for my PC the TV was up and running without using the included driver disc and looked pretty much perfect without setting anything else up. The VGA connection means that it's easy to replace your standard monitor. There's even a button on the remote for fast switching between TV/PC.
For my Mac, however, the setup took a little longer. Using the HDMI connection I could get a picture straight away, but it took a lot of fiddling around with resolution, colours and contrast to get the right setting. It's not so much an issue with this TV as with every TV Monitor I've used for the Mac. Eventually I managed to get a very good picture that I'm now happy with.
With a USB slot in the side and support for many video formats, the LG2280D is a great little TV. Although Online services are sadly missing (many new TVs have Lovefilm and iPlayer at least) I won't miss these as I have them on my 32" Sony in the same room and have the LG connected to my Mac.
