Great VCR for the price.,

This review is from: LG LV880 Nicam VHS Video Recorder (Electronics)
If you're looking for a high-spec VCR at a reasonable price to make the most of your old tapes bfore investing in a DVD recorder or VCR/DVD recorder combo, this is a good choice. It's feature-packed to make the most of your old tapes including Auto-tracking and Optimum Picture Response and the fast rewind is super fast. The only negative on mine is that although you're supposed to be able to use Video Plus+ to set the timer, there's no button to enter this function on the remote they sent me. However on the plus side, although it's only supposed to have 4 heads, it says mine has 6 on the front of the machine! Go figure.. Overall, I'm very pleased with it, it looks good, is easy to set up and use - a great product for the price.

I purchased this to replace my old sanyo recorder. As it has auto set up it was very easy to install. I had it installed and recording tv progs using the timer record function all within an hour. The instructions are very well written and so easy to understand. I love the compactness of it allowing it to fit in small spaces and also the fact that it has a child lock. The only dis advantage with this is that it does not have a tape display counter which makes it difficult to see how much tape is left and to find the beginning and end of a recording. Also when you first get the on screen menu up to high light the icons for a given function, they appear over the tv picture so its not too clear which one is being high lighted. The other down side is that it will only pick up anolouge stations which means it will need to be replaced for the digital switch over. But having said that the sound and picture quality are perfect,it records brilliantly, and it has a mega fast forward and rewind. I would highly recommend this for the more amateur users as it really is so easy to use. I have only had it a few weeks and it has had alot of use and so far has perfomed brilliantly. I would also like to thank Amazon for a speedy friendly service as always.

This VHS player is incredible...I have never seen quality like it off vhs tape - all the old tapes, we have, (some 20 years old!) look pretty much as good as dvd (on a smallish (20") high spec LCD monitor - NOT HD). HOW DO THEY DO THAT ?? As a bonus it plays 525 NTSC tapes as well - just about the same quality. The sound quality is good - not Hi Fi but GOOD. It's going to save a fortune on kids entertainment - think charity shops at 25p a go. I don't understand the negative reviews, they ALMOST put me off, you've got to remember the definition of the old TV standards- 525 line NTSC and 625 line PAL, maybe these folk expected HD quality from VHS? (and its no noisier than any other VHS machine) I for one am glad I followed the rather fewer good reviews, and the reason for writing a review - IT IS GOOD, VERY GOOD Now its time to archive all the oldies as H264, on computor...
