This is a decent little budget home cinema system.
It can upscale DVDs to resolutions of up to 1080p over HDMI, but I got the best results by setting the output to 576p and letting the TV worry about upscaling.
The FM radio tuner can be used without turning the TV on, which is one of the features I wanted, and with a rotary volume control on the front you don't even need the remote. It's a tad finicky about aerial positioning, but it gives good results.
The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound from DVDs sounds good. It doesn't have Dolby Pro Logic or an optical digital input, which didn't matter for my purposes but might be a downside to some people. There are virtual surround modes available, or it can work as a 2.1 system for stereo inputs. There is a stereo phono input on the back and a 3.5mm stereo jack input on the front.
There is also a USB socket on the front where you can plug in a thumb drive and play music or videos, or show jpeg pictures. It can record from CD to USB, but I haven't tried that.
It's a 5.1 system with 5 satellite speakers and a subwoofer, despite the spec above saying 4 speakers. There are preset equalizer settings but no finer control available for anyone who wants to make minor tweaks to the levels.
The remote control can control an LG television, but just the very basic features such as power, input select and volume, so it doesn't really matter what brand of TV you have.
Overall, it's a good little system, so long as you don't need fancy features.
