1080P upscaling
DVD or Blu-ray players featuring 1080P up scaling can improve the picture quality of a Standard Definition (SD) DVD to that of Full High Definition (FHD) 1080P picture by using the HDMI connection and filling in the missing details. Firstly, everything in box looks great - shiny and black. The main unit has only two buttons and one large rotary control breaking the shiny blackness. The speakers and stands look lovely, too. Shiny, black and they match my Samsung TV exactly (go figure).
Sockets are well laid out making connections easy. Powering on displays a nice LG "boot" screen leading to a slightly OTT animated menu. Most of the options are exactly where you'd expect them to be so it was easy to switch to 1080p mode and upgrade the firmware.
The on-screen visuals are excellent. This was my first Blu-ray player so I've nothing with which to compare but "Up" looked absolutely gorgeous.
Now for the bad news. The speakers, although beautifully shiny and black, are very light and plasticy. Unfortunately this makes for a very light and plasticy sound. The centre speaker is of a different design to the main and surround units and so sounds completely different. I'm no audiophile but I didn't like what I was hearing. Just to check, I swapped the speakers to my existing Denon units and the atmosphere improved dramatically.
Other annoyances include the poorly designed remote control. This shouldn't be a problem as I have a Logitech Harmony One universal remote but, due to the design of the LG's menu system, it's pretty-much impossible for the Harmony to cope.
Don't get me wrong, though - I won't be returning this system - I just can't recommend it.

got this a day quicker than was expected which was fantastic.set up was very easy as everything is colour coded and cables are very long so you can put speakers anywhere you want.sound quality is fantastic and of course the first films tested were saving private ryan,aliens and the dark knight.speakers pick up all the subtle sounds really well and the loud sounds are not overblown.overall delighted with the delivery service and quality of the product.

I bought this system to replace my old JVC system and I am very pleased overall and have no problem recommending this system.
The sound is great with several settings.
Blu ray player is excellent picture and sound amazing also quiet operation unlike my previous player
I have Humax HD freesat box connected via HMDI through the unit with no problems
The unit has a wireless connection which is useful as my router is upstairs. The only downside here is that it doesn't support Iplayer although it never claimed to.
There are plenty of connection options in and out. It has an Ipod dock which flips down from the centre of the unit which also supports iphone and charges Ipod/Iphone aswell. Strangely there are two ways to play the music from the ipod, via the Ipod icon it doesn't let you see the track details on screen but via the sound input option you get full control via the remote and see the track details on screen.
Being able to access other computers/drives on my network is very useful, I can stream all my music from my network drive. Slight inconvenience that there is no search fasility, but you can browse by artist or by folders, I could get around this by creating a folder on the drive and copy tracks into that folder.
Speaker cables are not a problem, the back ones were long enough, the front ones are shorter but detachable from both ends so you can easily use a longer cable or existing ones in my case.
Speakers are wall mountable although only two brackets supplied which suited me, I agree with previous comments that it would be better if they were able to swivel on their floor plate.
Overall everything it claims to do it does well, highly recommended

A must for peoplw with wi-fi broadband in their house.
