Let me start by saying that this is a brilliant fridge freezer.
Positives:
Visually the piano black finish looks the business and the build quality appears to be of a good standard. We've only had it for a month though, so I cant comment on long term reliability etc.
The internal compartments are of a good size and the nunber of shelves and storage drawers offers plenty of flexibility.
The "no plumbing" water/ice dispenser system works well, as long as you remember to fill the reservoir. Note that it took at least a week before the "new plastic" odours and taste disappeared from the dispensed water & ice cubes.
Minor Negatives:
The ice making facility is quite noisy when the newly frozen cubes are being transferred to the hopper, this is only for a few seconds but can be clearly heard during the night if you happen to be a light sleeper (like me).
The fridge freezer is quite deep, meaning we had to remove both the fridge and freezer door to get it through our kitchen door frame. The procedure for door removal/replacement is clearly instructed and relatively easy with a second person to assist.
Amazon home delivery service - BE WARNED!!!
The only MAJOR NEGATIVE, which has nothing to do with the product itself is the home delivery service provided by Amazon. Amazon sub-contract the delivery to a company called Home Delivery Network Limited - or HDNL. No I know the delivery is essentially free of charge, but believe me it would be daylight robbery if you actually had to pay for it! Problems we had are as follows:
1) The HDNL online tracking system was useless and we found that the item status was "received in depot" for about 3 days.
2) When the item went out for delivery, we received a call from the delivery driver who sounded like a complete numpty! During the call his colleague was shouting an swearing at him about another delivery and at one point the driver hung up on me mid conversation.
3) The item turned up 3 minutes before the end of the alloted delivery slot, after my inlaws had waited at my house for 4 hours. When the van arrived it had no tail lift and not even a sack barrow! My 67 year old father-in-law had to help them hand ball the 130KG fridge off the van and up my driveway! My Mother-in-law described it as a scene from the Chuckle Brothers!
4) The delivery guys would not take the fridge into the house due to it being too heavy and the total width including packaging being wider than my door. However on their paperwork it clearly stated "Deliver, remove packaging, position in house". When challenged the driver said that HDNL are not allowed to open packaging for liability reasons, that the instructions on the delivery note didn't apply to them, and that the item was too heavy for them to legally lift! Eventually they ended up putting the item in our garage, and the next day I had to arrange for help from family members to lift the fridge into the house.
5) Upon complaining to Amazon - going into detail about everything that was said and done etc, all we got in reply was a standard looking email saying that HDNL were under review and Amazon were sorry for the inconvenience. No offer of assistance with lifting the fridge inbto the house (which lets face it, it would have been an impossible task were it not for assistance from 2 family members), and definitely no offer of compensation/vouchers etc.
So to re-cap, the LG fridge freezer is brilliant. BUT the delivery service is terrible. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
