3.0 out of 5 stars Competent Android smartphone 12 July 2010
The LG GW620 Eve phone came as a free upgrade from T-Mobile; my previous phones have almost exclusively been Windows Mobile devices, so changing to Android was something I welcomed with some trepidation.

In fact the first device I received had to be returned as the touchscreen decided to give up after a couple of days.

However I persevered with the replacement, and I'm glad I did. The touchscreen is responsive, the hardware keyboard is fit for purpose and I can use the excellent Android Facebook, Twitter and Wordpress apps to go about my online life while away from the PC.

Phone calls are clear and texting is fast and easy. The device is also WiFi and Bluetooth enabled (the latter a rarity these days) and suitable for a good many Android games (although the lack of a trackball can make some games useless).

All in all, a decent phone. Not the best by any means, but as a friendly, social media aware device it is perfect.

I was due an upgrade on my phone, and wanted to move to a smartphone with a good camera.

What I got was an exceptionally frustrating lump which is little use and not very user friendly.

I have about 4 software crashes a week, I cannot get it to link to my pc for transfer of files, the battery life is woeful even by smartphone standards, and it seems to chip away at my soul each day I have it..
The touchscreen is either exceptionally sensitive, or unexpectedly vaugue.. or just doesn't work.
The memory card disconnects from the phone unexpectedly, the contacts are difficult to access, you can't organise any pictures you take.. the phone does that for you (badly)

As an extra fun point, you can't transfer files using bluetooth, as the version of android on the handset doesn't support this.

Basically, don't touch it with a bargepole, unless you plan on putting a bruise on your head and a hole in your wall from continually banging your head against it...

1.0 out of 5 stars Great expectations, very poor in reality 12 July 2011
I got this phone on a 2 year deal via T Mobile, and have regreted it every day.

I am on the 3rd handset, and this has the same bugs each of the previous models have.

1. Constantly loses signal. All day every day in every location it goes full signal to no signal. During calls too.
2. Constantly crashing
3. Very poor battery life, 1-2 days max even without making calls
4. Battery can be full then suddenly says empty
5. Internet constantly fails even tho in full wifi or within mobile signal.

It launched with an OLD version of Android and does not allow you to upgrade. ]

LG have never sold a case for it.

I would not recommend this to anyone.

(Although this next comment is network related, it is important: T Mobile do the same thing everytime, and run software checks, replace the screen and then eventually replace the phone. But I have the same problems 20 months in as I had 1 week in.)
