Product Description

Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The GGW-H20L is the first Blu-ray Disc burner to support 6X speed for writing to BD-R. That's up from 4X on the GGW-H10N, and up from 2X on the early Blu-ray Disc burners from Plextor, Sony, and Pioneer. In the PC World Test Center's evaluation, the drive's performance reflected its boosted specs even on slower speed-rated media. (According to media manufacturers, 4X media first ships at the end of 2007; 6X media won't come until the first quarter of 2008.)

On our disc-mastering test, we saw a 22 percent performance improvement by the GGW-H20L over its predecessor (itself a speedy performer compared with other Blu-ray burners we've tested), shaving nearly 6 minutes off the times we clocked. The GGW-H20L required just 22 minutes to write 22GB of data to single-layer 2X Verbatim BD-R media. Performance on formatting and packet writing to rewritable BD-RE media showed a similar boost (even though that spec technically remains unchanged): The GGW-H20L was 23 percent faster than its predecessor at this task, taking 1 hour, 43 minutes (compared with the GGW-H10N's 2 hours, 14 minutes).

love my new lg drive!! this is the first one i have seen within my budget and seems to have the most technology built in. i can now write onto my verbatim blu ray discs which is great considering the amount of movies i have stored on my pc. the software it comes with is very straight forward and simple to use so all round i am very happy and will not need to do another drive upgrade for a long time

The HD BluRay battle is over but this drive supporting both formats is still a winner. It's clearly the best buy on the market well speced and good compatibility.

This is a top notch product. Have written to a BD-RE and BD-R with no problems. Write speeds are very good - you may have to adjust the settings in Nero or ImgBurn to get it to write at 2x. Reads blu-rays very nicely. Looks great and is very quiet. All in all, a really great product. Only downside - the BD-RE that LG supplies with the drive won't work properly. It will allow some files to be written to it, but it has problems with a Blu-ray movie image. Very strange. Anyone else have this odd occurence?

This is a full retail boxed kit and comes complete with playback software. The Cyberlink suite makes it simple to watch bluray disks.

It will write to BD-R and BD-RE single layer 25GB disks. The dual layer 50GB (and also 100GB, 200GB disks) will be out later in the year.

I've only just started using this as i only got a few days ago but the results are very impressive playing back through my PS3.

Very good product, simple installation and works fine. Software included for playback of Blu-Ray discs. Make sure your PC is powerful enough for HD playback though!

I have bought this drive 4 months ago and can only say positive things about it. Plays all types of disk I through at it.
Burning all types of disks as well (with latest firmware) but with the exception of one brand LG BD-RE disks. The drive just doesn't recognise these. The disk it came with is exactly one of these and guess what LG's customer support has never sent me a replacement disk to keep a customer happy! Maybe because they know that all their disks are rubish. All ever they wanted was to assist me in how to buy a BD-RE. What a bunch of retards. If I managed to buy this drive why would I need help in buying their disks???? Drive is perfect but if you need their help... good luck.

Not sure why people are having problems with the software on either 32 bit or 64 bit PC's. I have 2 of these drives installed on a 32 bit Vista and 64 bit Vista without any issues with updating the software or anything else.

This writer not only does Blu-Ray writing and playback but it is also has HD playback. With the war raging between Blu-Ray and HD I'm cover whichever way it goes. This drive is also backwards compatible with DVD and CD.

This is the best speced and priced drive on the market, believe me I'm looked!
