I so nearly went for Samsung (again!) at around �140 ish, but this monitor crept in under the radar. It is a simple and functional device that is stylish enough for the fashion victims but boasts a remarkable picture quality with contrast enough to bleach your retinas should you need it. As a thought, it would probably cheer those up that suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder quite nicely. As a second monitor it is fantastic. The Laptop screen on my Toshiba has always been poor and the LG has now made it worth using at home. There are few frills and thankfully no speakers which in my view are always a waste of time on LCD screens. Make no doubt: the very reasonable cost of this monitor goes towards screen quality. I would not hesitate for a moment in buying another one.

(So on Jan 7th. I did just that - even though it has gone up ten quid.)

This monitor is brilliant. As the other reviews say, it is extremely lightweight and the quality is superb. In addition it has lots of energy saving information on screen if you are in to that sort of thing.

Only 2 points I'd like to make which stop it getting 5 stars from me:
1) It is so lightweight it borders on not feeling stable. When you push the buttons such as power or menu the whole thing moves. The Dell monitor I had was a lot more sturdy than this but it weighed probably 3 times more than this LG

2) There is no height adjustment, so you get what you are given. I am relatively tall and the Dell I had could easily comsensate for that. If I need to raise the height on this it is time to get the Yellow pages out!

My last point which is not the product's fault is the screen size. It has 2 different figures on this page, but for the record it is 21.5 inches or 55cm.

In summary, buy with confidence because despite my 2 negative points this monitor is truly excellent quality for the price.

The first thing I realised when getting this out the box was how light it was. Really, it can't weigh more than an keyboard. Looks great and has a headphone socket for HDMI sound.

At the moment can't really think of anyway it could be improved.

FYI (cause I have to google for it) YES your PS3 WILL work with this WITH sound :)

This monitor looks good (im looking at it now) its sleek stylish and lightweight. The stand for it looks good and can tilt Slightly but that's it, no ups and downs, swivel, or anything else as you would expect from this price.

The screen needs adjusting strait out of the box to get the full contrast and clarity. Strait out the box the images are slightly hazy/blurry and the blacks show up quite dull. The buttons for the menu's are quite simple and easy to figure out, it has a fair few options which is handy including energy saving mode (reduces the quality and brightness). No speakers or audio out, but a volume control? This could be used as a TV if there is an external audio source. I played my Xbox 360 through it and it looks clear and responsive. I am now running this alongside a Viewsonic VA2213w and it is brighter and sharper. The blacks are darker on the Viewsonic though its clear to see there is a vaster gradient of shades and colours and it shows clearer detail if looking closely. It would be good for general use, HD dvd's, games, etc. it is also good enough for designing on (example: Adobe Products), photography (Not professionally).

(I don't recommend the viewsonic (if its not discontinued) I have had it around a year and a half and the pixels flicker when its on for a long time)

If you want a monitor that is cheap and looks decent for watching films, web surfing, games, etc. then this is a good monitor to get. If your looking for something for professional purposes, probable not, it would be adequate.... Read more ›

This monitor is now part of a medium-high end graphic station PC, and I must say it's one of the best parts of it!

The design is very sleek with brushed aluminium face and small black stand. Monitor is very slim and takes little space on a desk, despite it's decent screen size.

The quality of the picture is simply incredible. The videos I played on it looked very vivid and smooth, much better than on my TV!

I know monitors improve (and get cheaper) every year, so when I am buying a new one every 2-3 years for a new PC or replacement the difference is simply staggering. I honestly can not believe the quality you get for a bit more than �100.

You can start using it straight from the box, and colours/contrast and other settings are spot on, unlike some "other" brands which you have to tweak to get a decent result.

Overall very happy and can strongly recommend this monitor to anyone. You simply can't go wrong with it!

UPDATE: I have now bought 3 of these for home and office as they ARE the best monitors around.
