Highly recommended! 23 April 2010
This is a fantastic monitor! I am very pleased with the picture quality. The blacks seem far deeper (due to the 50,000:1 contrast) and colours are much more lifelike and vivid when compared to my previous LCD monitor. Colour banding has been a problem on a lot of LCD monitors I have used, but I'm pleased to say I haven't spotted a single instance of it on this LED. Colour gradations are very smooth and natural. The Full HD resolution is now the standard for High Definition content, so with the HDMI connection and HDCP compliance, this monitor is ideal for XBox 360 / PS3 / Blu-ray use.

I found it very easy to set up; I just plugged it into the computer via the included DVI cable (VGA also included in the box for connection to older computers) and turned it on. There is no ghosting and the image is spot on. I also checked the monitor for dead / permanently active pixels and am pleased to say that the panel is perfect - there isn't a single dead pixel.

For applications featuring fast motion, such as when playing games, I have not noticed any lag at all. The different picture modes adjust the monitor for best appearance when using Windows, playing games, or watching a film. The monitor is also very slim compared to my old LCD so it's great for space saving on your desk! When connected to my Windows 7 PC, the computer automatically picked the correct resolution (1920x1080) to match the monitor, resulting in crisp graphics.

The touch-sensitive controls on the front are a very nice touch. There are no physical buttons; you simply touch the monitor's frame and it reacts by lighting up some purple LEDs. Very posh!

I give it top marks for its stylish design and features, but in the end, picture quality is the most important factor to consider when choosing a monitor. The LG E2250V LED monitor definitely delivers. Highly recommended!

This is the best monitor I've used for photo-editing. And I do mean ever. The contrast and blackpoint on this seems better than the crt monitors I used 10 years ago - the early lcd monitors were too washed-out for accurate colour adjustment. This has great blacks and fantastic whites.

It even has sRGB colour space available. Using that and altering the rgb profile in photoshop to sRGB produced a print that looked identical to the 1950's tri-colour seperation prints I have in books of the time. Not accurate colours (blues are too cyan), but great looking all the same.

Playing games on this is fantastic. No bluring, huge area (most larger screens have the same resolution as this) and superb contrast make for a great gaming experience.

All this and a power consumption of only 28 watts!

Now for the problems.

No Vesa mount. Every lcd monitor I've owned has one, but not this. Even my TV has one.

Installing the drivers was a pain. I have Vista 64, and the drivers wouldn't install using the CD install package. The only way to install them was via the Device Manager. Expand the monitor section of Device Manager, right click on pnp Monitor (or nPnp Monitor if using the VGA cable) and update driver. Select Install from My Computer, then browse to the CD>Driver>Installation and click okay.

The drivers will install without any further problems.

Finally, you have to have the EasySetPackage installed to get most of the functions working. Cinema mode is okay, but useless if you expand the video to full screen. Duel Web works, but is pretty useless.

Overall This is a superb monitor, which would have got 5 stars if the drivers installed first time and it had a Vesa mount.

Overall, the LG E2250V is a good monitor. It works fine and on-screen text is sharp.

Before purchasing this model, it is worth knowing the following:

1. The display panel has a matt finish (not glossy). Definitely a plus point in my view.
2. The height of the monitor cannot be adjusted by using the supplied stand.
3. The monitor does not have wall mount fixing points on the back of the screen.
4. Connectivity options are good: DVI, VGA and HDMI.
5. I have a conventional LCD screen running alongside the LG LED (a dual-screen setup). The most noticeable difference between the two types of monitor (LCD and LED) is colour. Colours on the LED display have a "cold" look about them, whereas colours on the LCD panel are "warmer".

At the time of this review, the LG LED monitor was slightly more expensive than equivalent regular LCD types. The supposed benefits of lower power consumption and longevity of LED's do not, in my view, warrant the additional cost and if I had my purchasing decision again, it is likely that I would choose a regular LCD monitor.
