LG DM2350D
Received this set today, made strange manly noises as i opened the package. It is a very pretty TV, kinda wanted to sleep with it... no jokes.
Aesthetics:
Very slim, sleek, glossy, a subtle blueish power light on the front that can be kept on or switched off via the menu. There is a very small border round the screen at the top and sides makes the set look modern and stylish. The stand co-ordinates with the clear/silver line along the bottom so the screen in a way appears to float. The IR receiver is located on the lower left hand side at the front giving excellent connection to the remote, still works when i stand outside my house, don't really know why i tried that but its done now... Hardwired controls located on the lower right hand side, touch sensitive, functional, silky smooth.
Build Quality:
You know when you buy an ipod it feels like like it has been carved from nuggets of pure ipod? This is much the same, this TV is probably carved from chunks of a mythical ivory bear. Feels very sturdy mounted to a wall bracket or attached to the stand provided. The remote is rock hard like an Eskimo's nipples and it makes a satisfying click when the buttons are pressed.
Picture (2D):
The 2D picture in HD is crisp and clear as you would expect with high contrast ratios, effective dynamic contrast (makes blacks blacker than treacle) various different pre-defined picture settings as well as a high level of customization. If you cant find a setting that you like on this set... you are a total Melvin.
Freeview:
The built in freeview is very easy to use, easy to read with sensible controls. The only downside i can think of to this TV is that there is no built in PVR or HD freeview, but who really cares, for the quality and the price, you cant complain.
Audio:
Standard audio as you can expect wont melt your face BUT out of all the sets i have used of this size, this has the best sound quality and depth. Again the sound can be customized also there is a rather nifty Surround X feature that works well with movies and games alike.
3D:
The 3D technology on this TV is the best solution i have seen, cheap 3D glasses, flicker free viewing and high brightness. The 2D to 3D conversion is far better than i expected, works on freeview TV signals, PC input, movies from a USB stick, DVDs, Games you name it. I have played true 3D demo's through the USB connection, 3D Call Of Duty: Black Ops via an Xbox 360 and various Games and 3D Blu Rays via a PS3, all impressive, some more than others. However, you will need to be viewing from the correct position for the 3D to work properly and to avoid ghosting. You will only be able to have 2 people maximum able to view the 3D images at the same time. You will need a HDMI 1.4a cable for games consoles (£3.25 on Amazon).
Connectivity:
All connections are located at the rear apart from the CI slot on the left hand side. (Component YpBpr, VGA & PC audio, Headphone socket, 2x HDMI, SCART, TV Arial in, USB port, Optical Toslink & DC in.) Comes with power leads, VGA cable, 1x 3D specs 1x 3D clip on specs, TRI-DEF 3D software, even batteries for the remote. Can be connected to a PC or Mac via HDMI/VGA at a resolution of 1920x1080 (Full HD) no problems.
Overall:
By far the best TV i have ever owned, don't look around, don't explore the options, don't save your money for something reasonable, treat yourself!
