Advantages: Reasonably priced in 2009. HDMI output.
Disadvantages: Too pricey now from dealers. Only one tuner. Unreliable.

I bought my LG RHT387H new in March 2009 and for the first year it operated reasonably, though with niggly irritations: -
- It loves to add subtitles to viewings and recordings, even though one has opted for NO subtitles in the Setup program. To remove subtitles, there is a button on the remote which sometimes removes the offending wording after pressing twice, or somtimes needs one to press and then press the 'move right' control.
- There is nothing on the remote control to change the resolution and since the resolution on powering up defaults to 576, you have to press a button on the front panel to increase resolution.
In year 2 the DVD became unreliable and then ceased to recognise that a disc was loaded. It also started to have random faults which could only be rectified by removing the mains power and restarting.
In year 3 the problems increased such that some recordings failed and hard drive problems were reported on screen.
I would not buy another LG TV Freeview HDD/ DVD Recorder, they look good but have inherent faults.
Time to change!
