UPDATE BELOW:
I have chosen this particular monitor as a friend has a similar one that he purchased a month ago. It has a very good 3d and 2D performance for its price.
Yes, its not IPS, so dont expect miracles. In addition its "sweet spot" for 3D is a bit tight, however, this is a monitor, and not a TV, so that may be fine too. but it deliveres a good range of colours and for its price is well above average.
So I had placed the order, and received it.
First thing I noticed, this did not come with assasins creed (as others have mentioned).
The second thing I noticed when I set it up was horrific purple ghosting which I never saw on my friends.
After a bit of research, I realised that the glasses provided by LG were incorrect. They had supplied glasses for their passive 3D TV, however, the monitor requires a slightly different set where the polarisation filter is at a 45 degree angle.
I immeadiately called amazon to get a new one shipped out, and guess what... the second set had the same issue, the wrong glasses sent!
Searching the net, it appears I am not the only one! Just google "LG wrong glasses".
Since I really do like this monitor, I have nowtaken this up with LG, to see if it can be resolved, however, despite some very late replys, and constant having to call up, they have informed that it appears that some of the sets have left the factory with incorrect glasses, and they have promised that once I provide them with a proof of postage, they will send out the correct glasses.
However this really gives little or no confidence to me, that such a mistake has been made.
In addition, the product information page for this monitor on LG's site is also incorrect. It statesa this monitor is compatible with the 3d glasses used in cinema (such as RealD), but as this incident has shown, although it is indeed a passive cinema style tv, its not compatible with those glasses. On the flip side it IS compatible with most passive monitor glasses such as Zalman, etc, which often can be better quality that LG's
UPDATE 5th March 2012:
Whilst waiting for the LG glasses, I have purchased a pair of Zalman Trimon glasses (which are of the right polarizer type for this screen). The difference it makes is remarkable. Finally I can see what this monitor is really capable of. The TriDef software and samples were largely unviewable with the provided glasses, but with the Zalman ones, I can actually see the 3D as intended.
However, the simple fact that it has shipped with the wrong glasses in the first place caused me a lot of effort to correct this, and I will not my changing my rating of 1 star. However, for prospective buyers for get the correct glasses, this is a 4 star monitor.
UPDATE 8th March 2012
I have now received the replacement glasses from LG. Although the new ones look the same as the ones originally shipped and have the same Model Number FPG-200F, these new ones say "3D Monitor Glasses" on the box, and on the frames, as opposed to "LG 3D Glasses", and have a different part number. These glasses work correctly with the monitor.
