5.0 out of 5 stars First rate product 9 Mar 2012
By David W
I'd highly recommend this product, easy to install as it comes with all the necessary leads and software. I used it to burn my first HD video and the process was extremely straightforward. For the price this is a must buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars LG BH10 internal Blu-ray Rewriter Retail Kit 15 Jun 2012

I needed a Blu-ray writer to publish a 3 hour HD video onto a single disk. The video material was recorded using a Panasonic SD90 video camera. The Blu-ray writer was installed in an XP desktop PC purchased in October 2006. Hardware installation took about 20 minutes and was simple and easy to do. The retail kit comes complete with all the cables and software required.

The bundled Cyberlink software suite appears comprehensive. The only comment I can make at this stage is that the software took quite a while to install. I have used an earlier version of the Cyberlink software suite and was very satisfied with the ease of use and the performance. Expect this more recent version to be of a similar or better standard.

I used the video editing software, which was bundled with the Panasonic SD90 camera, namely HD Writer AE 3.0, to record the HD video material to disk. This was done using the Verbatim BD-R 25GB disk included in the retail kit. The disk needed to be initialised / formatted to the UDF 2.6 file system format. This was done using an option as part of the HD Writer AE 3.0 production process.

The Blu-ray writer produced the Blu-ray disk in a reasonable time and the disk was played back on a standalone Blu-ray player with the expected HD quality without any issues. The disk could not be played back on the PC as the graphics card was not BD ready. There is a bundled Blu-ray advisor program which advices whether the PC is Blu-ray playback ready or not - very useful.

I would strongly recommend this product - easy to install and use and it produces BD-R disks with HD quality video as expected.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Drive, Software incompatible with Win 8 23 Nov 2012

Great value drive, quiet and full of features. Be warned however that this comes with Cyberlink Power DVD 10 for Blu Ray playback. This is not compatible with Windows 8 and you will need to purchase an upgrade to Power DVD 12 to do this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable value for money 11 May 2012
By Jeffers
Verified Purchase
I bought this product off Amazon to be a part of a new PC build as it appeared to offer good value.

Plus Points
Looks Great
Burns DVD's quickly and effortlessly
Fast response times when accessing DVD/Bluray Menu's
Built in Light Scribe
Decent software bundle included

Minus Points
Nothing even remotely worth mentioning

Conclusion
If you can get this for around 70 then do not hesitate. I got fantastic prompt delivery from Amazon and I am astounded at the performance for the price when I consider that I paid 3 times that amount for a Plextor re/writer only a few years ago. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars LG BH10LS38.AUAR 10x Internal BD-RW Retail Kit 1 Mar 2012

I have only used this product twice to write blu Ray but the results were all would expect from a product made by LG. The quality of my own shot high def pictures were stunning, with no problems with playback.

I was going to buy the LG external at a much higher price but now that I have this internal re-writer I am glad I made that choice.

If you are looking for a blu ray writer this one will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mac Compatible 14 April 2012

Although it doesn't say it anywhere, this drive is Apple Mac compatible. A bargain at 68 it was quickly installed in my late 2010 Mac Pro (it's a SATA drive) having watched a video on how to install an LG blu ray drive into a Mac Pro on YouTube [...]
Arrived in 24 hours from Amazon and having installed it in less than 10 minutes I can burn Blu-Rays with Final Cut Pro (my own productions not ripped discs!) and I can play Blu Rays using 'Blu-Ray Player' - a third party application that can be purchased online for 39 at [...]

edit: PLEASE NOTE - THIS MAY JUST BE MY EXPERIENCE - A COMMENTER FOUND AN AUTOPATCHER AND HAS v9 WORKING FINE

plus most people receive v10 of the software, which also works

Running Windows 7, 64 bit on AMD bulldozer, radeon 6870 and budget Asus motherboard

The included Power DVD v9 software, when asked to play a bluray OR DVD, just disappears, waits a minute and then reappears - no error messages.

Upgraded the drive firmware, the PowerDVD 9 software appears to be the latest version on the included disk, but their website isnt that intuitive. Their website states that, as version 9 is now old software, they no longer support it for Blurays made after 2011. An upgrade to PowerDVD version 12 for 35 will sort you out.

The burner is excellent - tested on the included single layer 25GB disk, it burned 25GB in 17 minutes, to a x6 BD-R disk, so im guessing to a x10 disk will be even quicker

Being returned
