What a great blu ray player!
Previous to this I had the sony 360 which had slow loading times, bad designed remote and shocking playback quality of dvd & blu rays. I felt that perhaps I was buying for what I got (£120) and getting just a basic player. I was expecting more from Sony.
So I sold it as quick as I could and I thought I'd give the new LG BD560 a go as my tv is LG and still within my budget.
I was set up and ready to go within a few short minutes...Fantastic!
Beautifully set out home menu giving you options to playback movies, cds, and photos via disc or usb (front loading!!) and youtube access. All carefully thought out, for example if you are connected to internet playing a music cd will bring up the album cover and tracklist and the youtube playback has a choice of screen size depending on the quality of the online video. - Can't wait for youtube to go HD!
The firmware updates came up quickly and once installed, I continued my playtime!
Loading times for BR are much quicker than before and the remote is well thought out and presented well.
Has HDMI 1.3, Component and coaxial (and 2ch audio, 1 video) as outputs.
As my tv is LG it also recognises the channel and also the remote will operate the tv, so I'm not tripping over remotes.
The two negatives, Firstly, and this is becacuse the model is so new (I think),it doesn't playback Toy Story, so waiting for a firmware update! In the meantime I'm playing the dvd upscaled. Everything else I've played works fine. The second negative is I think the disc loading tray is flimsy, so don't let your kids use it!
So to sum it up I'd say it's a blu ray player that tries to do so much more so seperate itself in the market and it really does succeed. A great entertainment hub. 4.5 / 5 stars
