Video on dema
nd from YouTube
For the first time ever, LG brings the first range of LG Blu-ray players which allow you to access over 2.5 billion videos from all over the world. The user interface is extremely easy to use. Simply select the YouTube icon and instantly you are presented with a host of videos. You can then view the most recent content that has been uploaded, the most viewed content or even the most rated content.
If there is a particular piece of content you are looking for, then you use the search feature. This very much like how you would search for topic on the Internet. Simply select the search icon and immediately you are presented with the alphabet. As you start to type what you are looking for using the navigation keys on the remote control, a short list of what you might be looking for appears. This is a great feature as it reduces the need to keep selecting further characters.
If you are keen to see what videos entertain another nation, you can select from a whole host of countries. This is also just a simple selection from one of the tabs at the top of screen.
Once you’ve found the video you would like to watch, you have the choice to see it in full screen or if you prefer, in a window alongside a description of text. When the video has finished playing, you will be presented with a number of related videos which you can navigate using the arrow controls on the remote control.
If you are an avid fan of YouTube then you may have a YouTube account. With a YouTube account using a computer or laptop, you can tag your favourite videos to playback at a later date or share with others. With LG Blu-ray you can access your account and see your favourite videos in an instant. This is a great way to share your favourite video clips with family and friends.
LG Blu-ray not only plays back CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs but also opens the doors to content from YouTube. For those who like to watch videos on the web but want to sit in the comfort of the living room, then LG Blu-ray brings the best of both worlds with incredible ease.
The ultimate media player
With LG Blu-ray, the picture quality is far more improved over Standard Definition (SD) images which come from digital TV or DVD. To understand this better, the illustration below shows how many lines create a SD picture. In this case, SD is made up of just 576 lines which are interlaced together.

Interlacing is when the odd number lines are presented on the screen followed by the even numbered lines and so the odd and even lines are never on the screen at the same time. This happens so fast that you can see the picture flickering from the edge of your vision.
The opposite of interlacing is progressive. Progressive images are those where the odd and even numbered lines are presented on the screen at the same time. The advantage of this is that there is no flickering of the image.
When a Blu-ray disc is played, the image is vastly improved over SD as the Blu-ray has 1080 lines. If your TV is HD Ready, you will be able to experience the image in 1080I (1080 lines which are Interlaced). However if you have a full HD TV, you will be able to experience the picture in 1080P (1080 lines which are progressive), so no flickering.
All LG Blu-ray players can playback DVDs and by playing back a DVD on a LG Blu-ray player, you will improve the picture quality from 576 lines to 1080 lines. However this is not to say that the picture detail will be the same as a Blu-ray film.
In addition to playing back DVD and Blu-ray discs, the LG Blu-ray player can also playback the latest file format MKV; MKV is a file format that is in wide use online. Its popularity has grown as it allows users to download HD videos from the Internet to a disc or USB storage device and only use a fraction of the space that a Blu-ray disc movie would use. The picture quality can be just as good as that of a Blu-ray movie in HD1080.
The other video file format that can be played is DivX which is similar to MKV however this is in SD.
If you’re into music then LG Blu-ray will allow you to playback WMA (Windows Media Audio) files as well as MP3 music. These can played via a CD, DVD, Blu-ray disc or even a USB storage device.
Whilst music and videos can be played, LG Blu-ray also takes your pictures to the next level by allowing you to share them on your big screen. Simply plug in a compatible camera, USB storage device or even a picture CD and playback the photos. This works with all JPEG file types which you can put together in your very own slide show.

Blu-Ray comes alive,

This review is from: LG BD360 High Definition 1080P Blu-Ray Player with YouTube (Electronics)
My DVD collection just got a new lease of life: I bought a LG BD360 Blu-Ray disc player from Amazon. I fancy my Grandchildren would describe this as AWESOME and coupled with my LG37LH3000 telly(also from Amazon)it has changed my viewing life,as they say, forever.Setting up was easy and once installed all I had to do was switch on and sit back and let it get on with the preliminaries all automatically. I used to go to the cinema and wish I could have that sort of experience at home. Now at last I have, and I think I'll be enjoying it for a long time. In addition to films, holiday videos and family photos can be played either from disc or USB storage devices, as also can Audio CD's and MP3 music files. Blu-Ray discs give full 1080p output(try "Planet Earth" on this machine and you'll be taking cover from the Lions) DVD upscaling means I get better viewing from my standard DVD's. In addition to all this there is a direct link to YouTube. I don't think I shall bother if 3D arrives. I'm happy with my BD360

I picked up one of these from my local ASDA after they knocked a chunk off the price due to someone opening the box. I did some research before I bought it and overall the reviews were good so I pulled the trigger on it. I'm very glad I did! Even if I think there's a few areas they could improve it's still great for the price.
I was very interested in the Youtube feature as I enjoy quite a lot of online content and I would have to say that I'm fairly happy with it, but it's a shame the quality isn't as good as it can be when using youtube on your PC. You don't get an option to play videos in 480p or 720p when it's available so you just have to make do with the standard def, which can look a bit rubbish when viewing full screen on a HD TV. I guess they might provide an firmware update to improve on this so we'll have to see. This is only a minor gripe as the feature works well and I will happily sit and watch various youtube videos for hours. BluRay playback is brilliant. You can't really knock it at all. The load times are quick enough, picture is crispy and the sound is flawless. It should be noted that I'm not an audiophile and I'm just using a 32" Samsung LCD TV with no home theater set up so if you've got a serious sound system you may have a different experience. If you're just using the speakers from your TV then you'll be more than happy with the sound quality, I'm sure. Another feature was the ability to playback a wide range of video file formats from USB/burnt discs. I haven't had a chance to try out any MKV high def files yet so I can't comment on that. AVI playback is as good as you'd expect and if you have a few avi's in one folder it'll play one after the other without you having to select the next file/episode, which is nice. It's been mentioned before, but it'll only recognise USB devices formatted with the FAT32 file system which means that your USB flash drives will work (for files under 4gb), but you can forget about plugging in your large external hard drive as this will probably be formatted with NTFS. This is a bit of a pain for me because I would have wanted to plug in my hard drive so I could easily flick through all my videos, photos and music without having to choose a few videos that'll fit on a flash USB stick. I also, probably quite stupidly, assumed that because it had network capabilities that I could buy a network attached storage device and stream media from that straight to the BD360, but alas I cannot. It's just lucky I have my Xbox 360 for this, even if the Xbox won't play MKV's. Once again, this isn't a problem with the device but rather a problem with my ability to research the players functionalities. All I'm saying is don't fall into the same trap I did of assuming it'll be an all singing all dancing media device just because it can hook into your network. I guess LG may release firmware to include this ability, but I doubt it. If they did, this would be a perfect player for me! Still, I'm very happy with this machine for the low price that it is. You don't have to break the bank to get a more than adequate BluRay player.

LG BD360 Blu-Ray player with YouTube,

As a Blu-ray player this is excellent, and it works well with my Panasonic Viera LCD TV in 1080i mode.
The YouTube option adds another dimension. I connected the Network connection to my BT Home Hub using an Ethernet cable and it worked immediately - no configuration was needed at all. Take a look at Pamplamoose on YouTube - they make great music videos!
