after some shopping around i decided on this tv, after putting it in my shopping basket, amazon dropped the price a couple days later and they honoured the lowest price, within 10 mins of taking the tv out of the box, it was up on the wall mount and was working with little or no set up, picture is superb watching fottball and movies, gaming is a thrill now and easy with the 3 hdmi ports, other people i know have liked it so much for the price i paid for it, they to have ordered 1, deffo recommend this lg.

I've had this TV for almost couple of weeks now, so thought I'd offer my views so far on it. The TV is simple to set up; no fiddling about with picture settings, etc. to get it looking right - the settings it came programmed with are excellent; I've kept it at 'standard' for normal viewing and just changed it to 'vivid' for gaming (the 'gaming' setting looks too dull and bland, in my opinion). The sound quality is excellent and I need to have it at a lower volume level than my previous Samsung. The HD programmes look fantastic - much better than the 'gimmick' I was half-expecting(!) The remote is well laid out and easy to use. The only thing I have noticed is when I play my Xbox 360 (which is connected via HDMI) there is a little interference (not so bad that it's unwatchable, mind you), although this may be due to wireless frequencies interfering, I'm not sure. All-in-all, I'm over the moon with this TV.

Well I had the dilemma of buying a new TV for my parents and so, I looked at value for money and picture quality. Should it be Plasma, LCD or LED? Plasma suffer from screen burn, so I ruled that out. Did not like the LED pictures in the shops so I scanned numerous reviews of LCD's and had also been impressed of my friends LG TV's - although in my opinion they opted for 50" models which I personally think look hideous in a room.
So, I opted for this model part due to the fact that it is 100Hz and also that it had Freeview HD. Ordered from Amazon on the monday, along with a glass TV stand - both arrived on the Wednesday (First class service Amazon!)Paid £430 for the TV only to see it reduced now to an incredible £390 - such is life. I bare no grudge, as this TV can be set up in 30 minutes - straight out of the box, sort out the stand, auto tune and bingo! - no fine tuning of colour, contrast or picture quality required - LG have it spot on and the result is a TV set which in my opinion, as well as my parents is that the picture is the best that they have ever seen. The sound is pretty decent too. Watching BBC1, ITV1 or Channel 4 in High Definition in mind blowing! We simply cannot speak highly enough of this set, well done indeed LG.
Why bother spending double when you can get your hands on this little gem?

After comparing LCD, LED and plasmas in the shops and deciding plasmas and LEDs lacked the warmth of LCDs but however seemed much smoother than a standard 50hz LCD, i searched for an LCD with 100hz (like most standard LEDs) to try and get the warmest picture and smoothest image and i am glad i went for this.

This TV is probably the best LCD you're going to get for the size and price. It has a nice finish and is easy to set up with user friendly menus that respond instantly. It comes with 3 HDMIs that are all nicely placed off centre on the back which makes wall-mounting this TV simple as there's no worry about getting the wires in the way of the bracket. The image is crisp and the dynamics seem to have a decent range of colour giving you a lovely clear picture. The 100hz TruMotion is excellent aswell and makes a HUGE difference to how smooth gaming and general viewing is, switching this feature on and off makes me wonder how i ever put up without it before.

This is the perfect large screen TV on a budget

This TV makes a superb PC Monitor with built in audio.

Rather than buy a new LG 42LK530T I saved £50 by buying an Amazon Warehouse Used model. The only thing missing was a couple of AAA batteries for the remote. All the parts of the stand, the screws to fit it together, the remote, the LG CD, the power cable and the handbooks were all in the box. The polystyrene was a broken in a few places but the TV was in very good condition (with a film of plastic over the edges of the screen and base). It was safely packed in its original though battered box. I have saved nearly £50 (£50 less the cost of a couple of AAA batteries)!

Of course, as others have reported, it is very easy to set up so I won't repeat how totally automatic it is. I want to tell you about its use as a PC monitor.

In my lounge I have a cheap (but Windows 7) desktop computer which I use rather like a networked media player linked to my TV via an HDMI link. I connected the HDMI out of my graphics card to the HDMI 2 socket of the TV and then booted up the computer. Of course the LG 42LK530T recognised the 16:9 HDMI input but, by default, the overscan meant that all four edges of my picture were off screen. As a very approximate estimate, I was losing about 50 pixels off screen ad each edge.

At first I used the Aspect Ratio menu to select 'Just Scan' which recovered all four edges of the picture and, because the 1920x1080 display was now 'pixel matched' to the output of my graphics card, the picture became much crisper.

I would have been satisfied with this solution but I have found an even better way of removing the overscan!

In the Input Menu I selected HDMI 2 and then pressed the blue button to Name this HDMI 2 input.
