I purchased one of these beauties, paid £650 also, Picture quality is superb from inbuilt freeview as is RGB from sky, have not tried any HD sources but imagine would be equally good. My only gripe, and i have informed LG, is the In built PVR. You cannot schedule a recording and go out or goto bed, as you have to leave the TV on. The Tv also has 2 digital tuners for recording 1 channel, whilst watching another, however if you are watching 1 channel and the scheduled recording is about to start, instead of it just recording it, like Sky+, you have to change channel then change back to the channel you where watching??? Maybe a software update could put these issues right. Appart from this it is superb, would recommend anybody to get one. Oh And also you can record from external sources.

As with many of the other reviews initially I was absolutely delighted with the LG42PT85. Picture quality and features of TV for price was very impressive, and set up of TV to run with my PC was childs play.
The TV worked with no problems for first six weeks then I started to have screen lock up on channel change I contacted LG who intern had they're service contractors contact me.
It took more than a week for them to collect the TV and then after another four weeks and numerous phone calls to LG service department and in the end to LG's PR department ( I had to contact PR Dept LG have no customer complaints Dept ) I've finally been told that the TV is not a viable repair.
I fully understand that defects occur in high tech equipment but it is at times like these when you experience these problems you find out the true worth of the Quality and service behind the brand name, but sadly LG is the worst customer service department I've ever dealt with. LG is not a brand that I will be purchasing or recommending again in the future

An absolutely lovely TV with all the bells and whistles that I wanted. Best bit for me was the price. Paid £649.99 for the TV, £30 for 3 years warranty cover and another £30 for delivery to our home.

Picture and sound quality are superb and the whole family loves the product.
