Freeview/Digital
With LG, you’ll be ready for the digital switchover. By 2012, all areas of the UK will receive TV in digital as opposed to analogue. AV Mode
LG TVs have three special modes (Cinema, Sport and Game modes) for enhanced picture and audio quality. These are easily accessible using the AV MODE hot key on the remote control. Cinema Mode - Watch movies with vivid colour, smoother motion and cinematic sound effect. Sport Mode – Takes you closer to the action by emphasising the main colours and reducing motion blur. Game Mode – Optimises the TV for computer and / or games console for a more dynamic gaming experience.
Energy Saving Recommended
LG TVs help you save money and the environment. An Energy Saving Recommended Integrated Digital Television (IDTV) can save around £7 a year and 20 kilograms of CO2 each year compared to a similar TV and set top box; they are amongst the most efficient in their class. There are over 16 million terrestrial digital TV receivers in the UK, and if these were upgraded to IDTVs it would save around £112 million in energy bills.
With energy-saving features such as ‘Video Mute’, mechanical power-off switch and ‘Intelligent Sensor’, LG has one of the largest ranges of TVs registered to the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended scheme. To gain entry to the Energy Saving Recommended scheme products have to meet strict criteria to ensure that they are amongst the most efficient in the market place. Check www.est.org.uk for more information.
Invisible Speaker
The front bezel works as a speaker, replacing the normal speaker grill. With the Invisible Speaker System, the speakers are embedded in strategic spots underneath and around the front bezel. They enhance the audio by increasing the ‘sweet spot’ to give a wider and richer sound field. This speaker system provides a clean and fashionable design compared with traditional side or bottom speaker designs.

This review is from: LG 42LH3000 42-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview - Black (Electronics)
This is my first large screen HD TV and after much research I decided that with my limited budget this would be a good buy. It certainly is big and at first seemed to dominate the room but after a short while it just seems to fit in OK.
Setting up was very easy and almost entirely automatic. We live in an area with no analog signal any more and poor Freeview and so we will be using this device with a Humax HDR satellite receiver. So I was pleasantly surprised when the built in Freeview receiver was able to pull in about a dozen or so Freeview channels free of break up or pixelation. Getting the picture right was another matter and this is still an ongoing situation. This TV is capable of a fantastic picture with good and deep blacks and almost entirely smear free - unusual in a no 100Hz set. I found the default picture settings to be way off, far too bright with highlights burning out. Of the preesets 'Cinema' produced the best results but further tweaking was necessary to reduce the highlights. Buried within the very many options and picture settings it is possible to obtain a great picture but, at least for me, not straight from the box. The sound is great, very loud, and with a good bass - again unusual in flat screen TVs. I have found it difficult to balance the sound input from external devices with the very high default setting - My Satellite box is set on full volume in order to balance the TV's Freeview sound level set at 5/100. However, this may well be a problem I can sort out later as I continue customising the LG set. Using external devices such as DVD, VCR, Satellite box, etc is easy. The TV comes with a plethora of sockets including three HDMI and two SCART. A button on the handset calls up an on screen list of devices to choose from and there is an option to rename the devices as you choose. Two of the HDMI sockets and both SCART on on the rear of the unit - possibly a problem when wall mounting - with one HDMi on the side. The handset is smaller than you might expect and rather cheap looking but does the job well enough. There is no manual included other than one on the enclosed CD. This manual is a generic one designed to include all the LG TV range and so it is necessary to pick and choose the sections that relate to this particular model. I suppose the days of printed manuals are passed but I would expect the PDF file to relate to this model, or at least the LH3000 series. Using the manual is far from easy even when printed out. I seem to be writing mainly about the negative aspects of the TV and in doing so I may be giving a false impression. This is a great TV with a picture far better than that of its' rivals at this price point , superb sound, an excellent build quality. Be aware that you will need to fine tune the picture and delve into the non intuitive PDF manual to get the best from it. I am very happy with the purchase and given the chance to choose again would still buy this one.

Researched TVs for weeks and decided on this TV. Very easy to set up, very pleased with the look and performance of the TV. Was a little disapointed at first with picture quality but discovered that it was on antenna. Switch it to AV1 or 2 and the picture is perfect.
