LG don't market this as a gaming monitor but there's no reason you cannot game on it at all. Some people have commented that it has input lag but those people are used to 120Hz+ TN panels so naturally those gamers will find any screen that isn't 120Hz an issue in gaming.

I've had IPS screens since the Dell 2000FPW and gamed on them since then too. I play online FPS mainly and in titles like TF2 am regularly positioned in the top 5 of the scoreboards. What I'm trying to say is once you get accustomed to something you become good with it and I'm used to gaming with IPS screens so because of that I don't notice any input lag at all. Twitch movements are no problem. You can view some gameplay in my video here:[...]

So for other stuff, it's brilliant. Movies made for this aspect ratio have a new dimension. I actually enjoy them on this more than on the LG HDTV in my living room and it's thanks to having no letterboxes top and bottom.

DisplayPort 1.2 mode is disabled by default and visually I couldn't spot any difference with it on or off. Some users report flickering of the screen randomly with it on, I had this at first but putting official nVidia drivers back on and letting the screen settle a few times has stopped that.

Colour calibration is excellent. I'm using LG's software which is a small program that sits in the system tray. It uses a mere 18MB of RAM and monitors the OSD and other things and will restore the calibration if things change by accident for whatever reason. I used an i1 Display Pro but most probes will work just fine too from Spyder 3/4 to ColorMunki Display. LG have drivers for those on their website.

My screen is mounted on an Ergotron MX arm and it really looks amazing with this installed.

Beautiful 34" UHD. I love the 21:9 ratio, love the high resolution, love the optimum 109ppi density. love the IPS color reproduction. Every bit of this screen's spec is so good and love it for these high specification.

But for a screen cost a premium, there are issues you just don't expect to see.
1. Backlight bleed.
Most of the review I read, this screen has no and should have no backlight bleed. But the one I got have severe backlight bleed on top left and both bottom corners. The left corner is so bad it is actually a visibly yellow tint. The backlight bleed also caused very very poor screen uniformity. I will upload customer image to show. 2. Poor menu design.
The joystick control for the menu is good. Not very fast, but good enough. The UI however is very difficult to use. There is no shortcut menu to change the picture mode or the response time. And the game mode does not change response time to high. You have to do it separately. It's very bothering when you switch from movie watching to gameplay. Takes so many steps to set them right.
3. The stand is fixed, gives you only small angle to tilt, you can't turn it side ways nor can adjust height freely. This is not too much of an issue but usually when you pay for a thousand euro price tag, you get a decent adjustable stand.

The backlight bleed problem really killed the entire idea of having this screen as an high end product. It is one thing LG can cover easily with quality control and they have been doing it well in the past. I don't understand how it become an issue now. I researched a bit on a few forums, it appears the backlight bleed is a lottery. Some people gets no bleed at all and some gets a very bad one as I had. The bleed makes all the high specs on contract, color and wide gamut pointless.

Disappointed and on it's returning to Amazon

I'm not a professional reviewer and don't often leave reviews, but I thought since this is such a new device I thought I would jot down the things I have learnt and was worried about before I got it.

I have it connected - via Thunderbolt cable - to my Late 2013 15inch MacBook Pro. It just works straight out of the box - no configuration & no drivers. I've daisy chained a Belkin Thunderbolt Docking Station off the LG and that works just perfectly. I have ethernet and USB3 devices running off the Belkin.

The 3 USB ports on the monitor run just fine off the Thunderbolt connection to the Mac. There has been some confusion about this online - some stating that LG simply acts as a USB hub and requires a USB uplink. The USB uplink port exists, but I assume this is required if you do not connect the LG via Thunderbolt.

The display has a matt finish and all the reflection I was use to with my Apple LED Cinema Display does not exist - the display is absolutely gorgeous.

The dropped star. I cannot dim the screen to the extent I could with the Apple display. I have it set to a brightness level of 0 (Zero) and this is fine for normal use, but too bright for use in a darkened room. I've managed to dim the display a little further by reducing contrast from the default (70 I think) to 50.

I am completely blown away by this monitor - it is the display I always dreamed of owning. I desperately want to give it 5*, but I don't understand why I can't be allowed to dim the display further. I hope that I'm doing something wrong and someone will point it out to me. In the meanwhile, I'd be happy to answer questions about this display.
