Intelligent Sensor
With Intelligent Sensor, the TV picture automatically adjusts when room conditions change. Intelligent Sensor optimises the brightness, sharpness, colour and contrast of the picture within your viewing environment.
This helps to protect against eyestrain, and the TV will use up to 69.5% less power (TUV tested).
Freeview/Digital
With LG, you’ll be ready for the digital switchover. By 2012, all areas of the UK will receive TV in digital as opposed to analogue. Freeview is a subscription free service which brings up to 48 digital TV channels including ITV2, E4, BBC3, and Film4, plus 24 digital radio stations, no contract and no satellite dish.
To check if you can receive Freeview in your area, text your postcode followed by your house number or name to 83331* or visit www.freeview.co.uk
Invisible Speaker
The front bezel works as a speaker, replacing the normal speaker grill. With the Invisible Speaker System, the speakers are embedded in strategic spots underneath and around the front bezel. They enhance the audio by increasing the ‘sweet spot’ to give a wider and richer sound field. This speaker system provides a clean and fashionable design compared with traditional side or bottom speaker designs.
Energy Saving Recommended
LG TVs help you save money and the environment. An Energy Saving Recommended Integrated Digital Television (IDTV) can save around £7 a year and 20 kilograms of CO2 each year compared to a similar TV and set top box; they are amongst the most efficient in their class. There are over 16 million terrestrial digital TV receivers in the UK, and if these were upgraded to IDTVs it would save around £112 million in energy bills. With energy-saving features such as ‘Video Mute’, mechanical power-off switch and ‘Intelligent Sensor’, LG has one of the largest ranges of TVs registered to the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended scheme. To gain entry to the Energy Saving Recommended scheme products have to meet strict criteria to ensure that they are amongst the most efficient in the market place. Check www.est.org.uk for more information.
USB
The USB 2.0 feature allows you to connect a USB mass storage device to your LG product in order to play audio (MP3) files and display JPEG images.

32" of quality,
By
This review is from: LG 32LH4000 32-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview - Black (Electronics)
The old 20" CRT by Panasonic had served its purpose after almost 15 years of faithful service but the picture started to darken and strange artefacts appeared on screen. Most concerning of all, was the loud buzzing sound that had developed. Sounded like it was time to take it to the local recycling centre (CRTs contain some nasty substances that need to be disposed of safely).
With a saturated and competitive LCD TV market, a number of things had to be a priority: 32" screen size max, easy of use, plenty of connections, great picture quality and low power consumption. I didn't want to overstretch myself spending money on a set that I would be using occasionally so I set my budget at £400. Panasonic and Sony fell at the first fence - thanks to their prices. So that left Samsung and LG. I've had good experiences with both of these makes (a Samsung netbook and LG monitor) so I took a long hard look at the bewildering array of variations. What swung it in the end to plump for the LG? The menus on the LG were simply fantastic and the picture quality was excellent (of course in a shop, the picture would be brighter to overcome the bright lights and outshine the other competing TVs in the area). Weight - the set is light weighing in at 12kg. The set comes with a swivel stand and a set of screws to lock the base of the television of the stand. There are fittings on the back of the set for fixing the set to walls. Set-up - truly simple. I powered the set and it went about finding and storing stations within minutes. Picture quality - because the set is 1080p, you can feed the set via HDMI blu-ray discs and Sky HD. After using a blu-ray disc, the LG set delivered amazing picture quality. You may want to adjust the settings to fit your personal preferences but the factory setting looked good. Plenty of options exist to tweak the picture settings. Sound quality - the sound from the set is crystal clear. There are plenty of customisation options to fine tune the desired sound. The sound quality was definitely an improvement over the Samsung sets. Navigation - the remote is a bit cheap but functional. The on-screen menus are terrific. Instructions are clear on how to use the various options. Connections - 3 HDMI sockets, 2 Scarts, 1 RGB and a USB socket - hold on, USB? You can display photos in JEPG format and play MP3 files via the set. I honestly did not know about this until I looked at the user manual (which resides on the CD-ROM). Power Consumption - the set consumes 150 watts at full brightness settings although on 'home' settings, this is cut down to 100 according to the forums I visited. It's nice to see a physical on/off switch as well so you can truly switch off power instead of leaving it on stand-by. Overall, this set is excellent value for money.

Pretty Good, although nothing special,

This review is from: LG 32LH4000 32-inch Widescreen Full HD 1080p LCD TV with Freeview - Black (Electronics)
My opinions only, I dont claim to be an expert.
Pro's: Clean image, clear sound, loads of connections, a whole bundle of them set into the back of the screen facing off to the side, which makes it ideal for wall mounting. Very easy to setup. Intuitive menu, although some of the options could do with a more thorough explanation of what the actually do (google, hehe) Actual on/off switch, no more little red standby light, made my energy conscious fiance very happy?? Energy saving mode, adjusts the brightness of the picture according to the light in the room, ie. bright day = bright screen, dark room = duller screen (worth switching off if you want to watch anything in HD though) Cons: No angle adjustment, the tv leans forwards about 5-6 degrees from the vertical Indigo blue trim? All I got was a clear strip around the base, no trim. USB port, only music and photos which was a little disappointing, the ability to watch divx/avi would have been very very nice (although I read somewhere that you can update the firmware to enable this) The remote sucks, its blocky and horrible to hold. Shiny gloss casing, dust and fingerprint magnet, put out of reach of sticky fingered baby!! On an off note, the code for virgin media customers is 0008, but this only works with the V+ HD remote, not with the old telewest silver remote. Overall, I'm pleased with the purchase

Good set for the price but...,

THis set is my first LCD purchase and its high quality
Looks ok, has plenty of inputs (you can even tweak it to play divx movies off a memory stick!) The inbuilt speakers are fine and the freeview works. (although anything other than perfect signal can make the picture cutout rather than just corrupt a bit) My main issue and thats the TVs ability to handle dark scenes. One specific case in point is when watching a nautilus shell disappearing into the deep ocean during Planet Earth on Blu-ray. Mesmerisingly beautiful cinematography but then as this prehistoric mollusc dives in to the deep HORRIFIC COLOUR BANDING. (try turning your desktop colour depth to 256 colours to get an exaggerated example) Now I've seen it with deep blacks and blues I see it everywhere there are shadows. So if you appreciate the dark moody end of cinema I would definitely try before you buy with this one. (take your fave film into a shop and they will normally be willing to let you try it)
