This is a lovely TV, LG have really done a great job. It looks stylish and neatly laid out. Even the light to indicate if the TV is ON or in Standby is nicely done - it is actually a small chrome insert that reflects the light from an LED placed within the TV and this is a lot less distracting than the one in another TV I have seen that goes straight in your eyes.
We sit at least 7 or 8 feet from the screen and the picture is quite good and even standard definition channels look great (I'm not sure how HD can beat it, but will try sometime). Since it is a small television with 720p resolution, the pixels are quite close to each other, and it produces a good picture even if you sit around the 7 feet mark. The colours are nice as well, it seemed different to ones on an old CRT TV but then I found a setting for Colour Temperature that, when set to Warm, seems to make it close to the colour on the CRT TV. There are a good number of options to adjust the picture and most people should get a good picture. I actually like it on the stock settings.
It works well as a screen for a computer and automatically adjusted to the resolution of the computer that was at 1024x768. When I changed the resolution of the desktop to 1360x768, it was slightly mismatched but when I changed the resolution in the TV menu to match it all was fine. (On a side note, if you are going to use it as a computer monitor, get a good cable if you plan to read from the screen, even the cheap Belkin ones produce ghosting and are only acceptable for video, the good cables are going to be about £10-15 but it will be worth it)
Sound on this TV is quite good. I mainly watch shows with talking being the predominant part of it. Most of the sound is in the higher frequency ranges so this TV, with its small speakers, works well. There are lots of options to tweak settings and others have managed to get a sound they like. I have not tried action movies yet, but this TV does not have much Bass so it will need external speakers to get the best effect. Music also lacks Bass but we don't really use the TV for that. The TV is very good for shows with talking, everything is clear and the Clear-Voice setting makes it even clearer.
The graphics used for the on-screen display is very nice and better than other sets I have seen before. They have put some attention into it.
The remote is nice, pretty well laid out and the important buttons are easy to see. A few of them could be better (maybe just personal preference) but are still easy enough to use.
The Energy-saving mode is a very good idea and you can switch off the screen when you are listening to audio to save power. But I wish the power button on the top of the TV was a normal ON/OFF one, this one just puts it into Standby - which is not very energy-efficient but probably enjoyed by lazy-bones that like using remote controls only.
Someone complained that their set does not keep the new settings they put for more than a few minutes (not sure if it is this TV or the 22 inch version, I could not find that review again). That is not really a problem, it is just that the TV has somehow been put into a 'Store-Demo' mode that lets shoppers mess around with the settings and after some time returns it to factory default settings. It can easily be changed to 'Home' mode that works fine.
The USB port at the back is only for servicing.
The TV takes about 5 seconds to start up, like others have said. Its not too long to wait though. It does go back to the last channel you watched too.
It is very simple to set up this TV, all you need is the quick start guide to get it running. The on-screen instructions are good too. No problems there.
It is a very nice TV and a surprise that it is available at this price. You probably wont be disappointed with this set, you will probably enjoy it actually. I love it.
We got it from Amazon and the service was fantastic, it came in less than 48 hours - much earlier than scheduled. Two thumbs up for Amazon.
