Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

The LH2000 series is HD Ready and certified by the Energy Saving Trust to save you money off your electricity bills.

19LH2000
The LH2000 series introduces the greener side of innovation. The LH2000 series is not only HD Ready but is also certified by the Energy Saving Trust for saving you money off your electricity bills.

HD Ready
High-definition television, or HDTV, is a new standard of TV with better-quality picture and sound than normal TV, the sort of standard you would see at a cinema. HDTV brings you closer to the action, offering more colours and a higher resolution picture (twice as many horizontal lines). This can make HDTV images clearer, sharper, more detailed and very lifelike.

Freeview/Digital
With LG, you’ll be ready for the digital switchover. By 2012, all areas of the UK will receive TV in digital as opposed to analogue. Freeview is a subscription free service which brings up to 48 digital TV channels including ITV2, E4, BBC3, and Film4 plus 24 digital radio stations, no contract and no satellite dish.

To check if you can receive Freeview in your area, text your postcode followed by your house number or name to 83331* or visit www.freeview.co.uk

HDMI
Connect your games console, blu-ray player or home cinema system through the HDMI port for a true High Definition multimedia experience.

AV Mode
LG TVs have three special modes (Cinema, Sport and Game modes) for enhanced picture and audio quality. These are easily accessible using the AV MODE hot key on the remote control. Cinema Mode - Watch movies with vivid colour, smoother motion and cinematic sound effect. Sport Mode – Takes you closer to the action by emphasising the main colours and reducing motion blur. Game Mode – Optimises the TV for computer and / or games console for a more dynamic gaming experience.

Invisible Speaker
The front bezel works as a speaker, replacing the normal speaker grill. With the Invisible Speaker System, the speakers are embedded in strategic spots underneath and around the front bezel. They enhance the audio by increasing the ‘sweet spot’ to give a wider and richer sound field. This speaker system provides a clean and fashionable design compared with traditional side or bottom speaker designs.

Energy Saving Recommended
An Energy Saving Recommended Integrated Digital Television (IDTV) can save around £7 a year and 20 kilograms of CO2 each year compared to a similar TV and set top box; they are amongst the most
efficient in their class. There are over 16 million terrestrial digital TV receivers in the UK, and if these were upgraded to IDTVs it would save around £112 million in energy bills. With energy-saving features
such as ‘Video Mute’, mechanical power-off switch and ‘Intelligent Sensor’, LG has one of the largest ranges of TVs registered to the Energy Saving Trust’s Energy Saving Recommended scheme. To gain entry to the Energy Saving Recommended scheme products have to meet strict criteria to ensure that they are amongst the most efficient in the market place. Check www.est.org.uk for more information.

Brilliant little TV 6 Dec 2009
    By Arun
This is a lovely TV, LG have really done a great job. It looks stylish and neatly laid out. Even the light to indicate if the TV is ON or in Standby is nicely done - it is actually a small chrome insert that reflects the light from an LED placed within the TV and this is a lot less distracting than the one in another TV I have seen that goes straight in your eyes.

We sit at least 7 or 8 feet from the screen and the picture is quite good and even standard definition channels look great (I'm not sure how HD can beat it, but will try sometime). Since it is a small television with 720p resolution, the pixels are quite close to each other, and it produces a good picture even if you sit around the 7 feet mark. The colours are nice as well, it seemed different to ones on an old CRT TV but then I found a setting for Colour Temperature that, when set to Warm, seems to make it close to the colour on the CRT TV. There are a good number of options to adjust the picture and most people should get a good picture. I actually like it on the stock settings.

It works well as a screen for a computer and automatically adjusted to the resolution of the computer that was at 1024x768. When I changed the resolution of the desktop to 1360x768, it was slightly mismatched but when I changed the resolution in the TV menu to match it all was fine. (On a side note, if you are going to use it as a computer monitor, get a good cable if you plan to read from the screen, even the cheap Belkin ones produce ghosting and are only acceptable for video, the good cables are going to be about £10-15 but it will be worth it)

Sound on this TV is quite good. I mainly watch shows with talking being the predominant part of it. Most of the sound is in the higher frequency ranges so this TV, with its small speakers, works well. There are lots of options to tweak settings and others have managed to get a sound they like. I have not tried action movies yet, but this TV does not have much Bass so it will need external speakers to get the best effect. Music also lacks Bass but we don't really use the TV for that. The TV is very good for shows with talking, everything is clear and the Clear-Voice setting makes it even clearer.

The graphics used for the on-screen display is very nice and better than other sets I have seen before. They have put some attention into it.

The remote is nice, pretty well laid out and the important buttons are easy to see. A few of them could be better (maybe just personal preference) but are still easy enough to use.

The Energy-saving mode is a very good idea and you can switch off the screen when you are listening to audio to save power. But I wish the power button on the top of the TV was a normal ON/OFF one, this one just puts it into Standby - which is not very energy-efficient but probably enjoyed by lazy-bones that like using remote controls only.

Someone complained that their set does not keep the new settings they put for more than a few minutes (not sure if it is this TV or the 22 inch version, I could not find that review again). That is not really a problem, it is just that the TV has somehow been put into a 'Store-Demo' mode that lets shoppers mess around with the settings and after some time returns it to factory default settings. It can easily be changed to 'Home' mode that works fine.

The USB port at the back is only for servicing.

The TV takes about 5 seconds to start up, like others have said. Its not too long to wait though. It does go back to the last channel you watched too.

It is very simple to set up this TV, all you need is the quick start guide to get it running. The on-screen instructions are good too. No problems there.

It is a very nice TV and a surprise that it is available at this price. You probably wont be disappointed with this set, you will probably enjoy it actually. I love it.

We got it from Amazon and the service was fantastic, it came in less than 48 hours - much earlier than scheduled. Two thumbs up for Amazon.

    Lovely Gadget! 1 Sep 2009
Bought this after quite a bit of research to replace a very old Sony TV for the bedroom. We weren't sure that the digital signal in our area would be OK but there is an analogue receiver in the TV anyway. However, plugged it in, and in seconds it came on with the automatic tuner instructions on screen. Followed the very easy on screen instructions and after about 5 minutes it was all up and running perfectly with all the digital TV and radio channels available in our area. Completely impressed - sleep function which is fab, easy to use remote, excellent picture from all angles unlike some LCD screens and the screen can tilt as well. Good sound too. Slight gripe that you have to read the full manual on a PC as it is on a CD but it was so easy to set up we just looked at the detailed manual later. Highly recommend this great little TV.

    Idiot proof! 7 Oct 2009
    By Mrs
This TV was so easy to set up and the picture is excellent. I read the two reviews and decided that the overall quality and price were good - I am not disappointed at all. Only two tiny negatives - one of the reasons why I bought it was for the tilt facility which doesn't seem to exist on the TV stand - maybe it only works when it's wall-mounted. Also, one review said that it takes a long time to come on, which is true - however it always returns to the channel I left it on.

All in all, I highly recommend this for anyone who wants a neat TV with excellent picture and sound quality at a great price.
