I bought this Annual as a stocking filler for my son, who loves Lego, and I'm relatively impressed with it.
This Annual is absolutely full of puzzles and should keep my son occupied for ages! However, it's probably worth noting at this point that most of the puzzles are relatively simple and I would think that they would probably be a bit easy for most 7+ year olds. There are a good variety of tasks to complete such as: counting the number of various spare parts in a picture; sudoku; mazes; codes; odd one out; spot the difference...and lots more. Most of it is general Annual type content, but all has a Lego theme. As another reviewer noted, unfortunately there is no sign of Lego Star Wars in there, which is a bit of a shame for all those little Lego Star Wars fans out there.
My main criticism of this Annual is that it has no stories in it. I know that my son will love this book and will have a lot of fun doing the puzzles...but he does love a good picture story and I know that it will be a bit of a disappointment in that regard. I think he'll be quite jealous of his older brother and his Star Wars Annual as that has a good mix of puzzles and stories. At only 60 pages the Annual is quite short compared to some of the others I've looked at...mostly, I guess, due to the complete and utter lack of any stories, and if this was addressed then I'm certain it would have earned 5 stars from me. C'mon Lego - give us a few short stories next year!!
