This is just brilliant. It really is. A cracking little set with a great bunch of mini-figures. The dump truck is a suprisingly involved build (of which I approve!) for something that's likely to catch the attention of younger builders. There's nice, big squishy rubber tyres, some good detailing and a superb tipping mechanism, thanks to the clever use of a neat little rubber part. A quick turn of the dial and the bucket tips up and flings a few bricks out. great stuff. I like the 'toy accurate' driver, who's just a simple moulded piece (as you might expect to find in a Tonka or similar dump truck of this type) with a very cute boss-eyed expression on his face.
The other great selling point of this set are the superb mini-figures. Lotso himself is fantastic. A great big pink bear with moveable arms and a stick with which to prove he's in charge! Chunk, the prickly orange dude, is also great. He has some excellent detailing and i love the rotating drum face which you can flick between cheery and angry (and reminds me a little of old Battle Armour He-Man and Skeletor figures from many moons ago...). Best of all is Stretch, the rather angry looking purple octopus! His expression is a picture, and he has lovely rubbery tentacles too! Brilliant!
All in all, a fantastic little boxed set with bags of roleplay opportunities and tons of bricks for you to build stuff out of too. That it is quite a challenging set for younger builders also gives it extra kudos. The three (four if you include the driver) characters are superb and it's great whizzing them around in the truck. My Transformers haven't stood a chance! A cracking little set, and unusually for a lot of Lego's licensed stuff, a suprisingly reasonable purchase (Even moreso now that a lot of places are now putting Toy Story on clearance).
