Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
I bought this for the RRP of £29.99 and now its all built.

Mini-figures: These were the first out of the box, you just cant get Commander Cody with any other sets that are current, and he's very popular with the kids into 'Clone Wars the animated series'. He has a regular clone face - so that was a disappointment. However, he comes with 2 sets of tiny attachments for his helmet (range finder and search light in grey), and 1 grey visor. He also comes with the Arc trooper/commander armour (the shoulder protector and skirt bit)and 2 small pistols, all in grey - these are the same as 'Captain Rex's' equipment which is handy, as these tiny bits are easily lost! The yellow printing (which looks more like orange) is unique to Commander Cody - there is a tiny tiny detail on his helmet and the body print is different to any other clones. We liked the geonosian but ... no wings! Wings would have been nice addition. Master Mundi has an extra head attachment (apparently it houses the second heart needed to power his extra large brain - according to junior). But no cloaks - I think for the price of some of these Lego kits, Lego could be a bit more generous in giving Jedi cloaks and the odd spare lightsaber blade (another bit that is easily lost).

Spaceship: Lovely Lego clear building instructions - completely visual so even non-readers can follow them. Hoorah - no fiddly stickers on this set! There are quite a few large bits, so the build is a relatively straightforward one, compared to other ships in this price range (recommended age 7 to 12). I'd say its a good starter one if you haven't made a ship before, our 5 year old did quite a bit of it on his own and followed the instructions well as 'parts man'. We have given it a good 'swooshing' and it is up to 'swooshing' capaccity (bits dont fall off). It feels fairly robust. There is a drop down flap underneath that releases a bomb, which junior quite likes. The Geonosian fits in the cockpit and in our games, this is sometimes replaced by Count Douku from another set - as it doubles up as his Solar Sailer.

Value for money: I think this is a bit pricey at around £30, I think it should have been about £25 - I think Lego are trying their luck, as they know the kids will use their pester power to get Commander Cody. But still a nice little kit.

My son specifically asked for this toy for Christmas, and was delighted with it. As with all the "Star Wars" Legos, he assembled it pretty quickly, and then lined it up with the rest of his Star Wars fleet for many happy hours of play.
