I have owned a lot of SW lego sets including some of the UCS but this is my new favorite. I'm always harping on about the price of these sets but I really do feel the money is spot on with this one. Its got some nice minifigs, its a good size, the wing mechanics are simple but work well and it just looks like an X-wing. Its a huge improvement on the last version as its quite a bit sleeker and the stubby cannons from the last version are now a lot more movie accurate here. It took about 2 hours to build which was good fun and Lego have used some interesting techniques such as a bit of upside-down building and clever use of hinges to create the shape of the ship. Its reasonably sturdy when assembled too but watch the wing cannons as they're bound to be the first thing to go when swooshing. Cons - the use of the dreaded stickers for the engine detail and wing markings, astromechs have to sit sideways and because the elastic bands are only at the back of the wings they tend to twist them slightly. It would be better if the bands were inside the wings instead. The ship also sits on its bottom thrusters when the landing gear is down, again causing them to bend out of shape but all these are minor complaints as the overall coolness of the ship makes up for it and you can correct these problems with the parts included if you so desire - go get one now, you'll be chuffed.
