As an adult who grew up with Star Wars I have always been a huge fan of Boba Fett who is, lets face it, the coolest Star Wars character ever.
I always vowed I would buy the Lego Slave One if it was ever re-released and for years I kept a vigil with only my Boba Fett lego keyring to see me through.
And then, last year, they finally did it. Slave One upgraded and looking sooo tasty.
I got this kit for xmas and took my time building it, the model isn't hard to construct but take your time as it is easy to mess something up if you rush it. Compared to the previous version this looks much better and more like the Slave One from the movies rather than a rough Lego rehash. The body has more mismatching panels and there are little secret compartments to stow supplies and spare blasters, all of which are included.
The kit has awesome figures, Boba Fett has been given a makeover and has more detailing, in addition he now has his cloak and an aerial for his helmet.
The Han Solo figure is done well and it fits in the carbonite mould which is a nice touch. The Bossk figure looks cool too but I think it would have been better to have a couple of the Bespin guards that push the carbonite slab to Slave One. Thats a small pick as the Bossk figure does look cool and will surely be worth a small fortune in years to come. I have stowed mine away in the spare escape pod on the Tantive IV.
The Slave One straddle a fine line between display model and toy, it can be a bit fragile if handled too roughly but at the same time doesn't have as many fiddly little bits which fall off when handled. I think Lego have done particularly well. The Tantive IV by comparison, although looking much nicer, tends to shed pieces when you play with it for any length of time.
If you like Boba Fett buy this kit, I waited too long when the previous version was out and I missed out. These kits are limited edition and will not be around forever.
You know you want it.
