Lego continue their 30th anniversary releases with this fantastic updated version on the Naboo N-1 Starfighter and Vulture Droid.
Originally released in the 1999-2000 run, this kit gives two models which are far superior to their predecessors.
The N-1 measures a good 36cm long with decals to provide detailing over the correct scale body. There is a firing missile in the lower hull which is launched with a trigger mechanism. The missile launcher is the same type that's in the Slave 1 kit from last year.
There is a droid compartment for an astromech unit, R2-D2 comes with the kit, and the bottom of the compartment opens to allow egress.
There is a landing plaform with ladder for the N-1.
The Vulture Droid is well constructed with loads of articulation that allow for the wings to be split open for flight, to launch the missiles inside (to be flicked with your fingers to fire), but best of all, to transform into the walking version. The head is very manoeuvreable to allow for loads of poses. It's 14 cm long in fighter mode and 14-16 cm high in droid mode depending on where you pose the head.
You get three figures with the kit, Anakin Skywalker, R2-D2 and a Naboo Pilot. You also get a pilot's flight helmet with moveable goggoles too. Due to Anakin's legs being the type that are given to small characters, he cannot sit in the N-1.
Construction time is about 30 minutes and this kit is a must have for any Star Wars Lego collection.

This is The Lego Groups third N1 (counting the original blocky one and the UCS version) and is a sweet 'little' ship.

Pros:
Very very swooshable
Simple build
Vulture Droid
Multiple minifigs with options
Technics spring loaded torpedo on N1
Odd stand thing with ladder makes it appear to hover when stationary

Meh:
Dreaded sticker sheet
Cockpit doesn't open
Astromech Droid ejector flap is odd

Cons:
Scale: is it too large or is everything else too small?
Flick fire missiles on Vulture Droid leave me cold

I really like this. Its a very simple build but when done really does look like the N1 from Episode 1. Its very very swooshable and just the right size to hold. However, its as big as the X-Wing which I'm sure isn't right - surely the N1 is smaller than an X-wing even though its a generation earlier! The Vulture droid is cool, let down slightly by its flick fire missiles.

Minifig wise you get the N1 pilot with a choice of headgear and Young Anakin who must use the pilots legs to sit in the N1 as he has the shorter immobile legs. R2 is also present in his original form.

Worth the money? Absolutely. This would have been a steal a couple of years ago when it came out and then I would have definitely bought 2. Its still worth tracking down and I really hope they re-release the N1 :-D

Swooshability/playability 5*
Minifigs 5*
Bought for the bits 4*
Value for money 4* (would be 5* at the orignal price)
Overall 5*

I got this for my 5 year old, who has gone mad over Lego Star Wars. He actually loves this one as it has "cool pieces" to make other ships with as well! He like making the fighter, but also likes making his own fighter deigns. His little Jedi mind is up to something, but his powers have increased and I cant stop buying Lego Star Wars stuff for him.......Help!
