Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Build models that really move with the Motor Movers Inventor Set from LEGO. A variety of yellow, orange, black and grey bricks can be put together to create models such as a monkey that moves hand over hand, a dog that walks, a bug that crawls and a variety of other flying, creeping, spinning and climbing projects. The kit is aimed at children aged six years and above--children at the younger end of the age group may need help if they're not LEGO veterans. Otherwise, an experienced seven or eight-year-old builder could probably build one of the easier models and get it moving in an hour or two; the more complicated projects will need more time and possibly more help.

The full-colour instruction booklet features full step-by-step instructions for six models and 11 "idea starters". Each construction is coded: one brick for "Quick Build", two for "Experienced Build" and three for "Advanced Build".

A battery box and motor are included, but creations will also require six AA batteries to get them moving, which aren't included. The kit encourages creativity, imagination, technical and construction skills, problem-solving and, most importantly, will allow children to learn while having fun. This is a great kit for the LEGO fan who would like to graduate to more difficult projects, this set is also accessible enough for children who aren't LEGO addicts, but who enjoy solving problems and building things. Nicely presented, it would also make an ideal gift. --Susan Naylor

Of the vast quantities of lego we have aquired over the past seven years, this is easily the best. My ten-year-old son has played with this more than any other toy since toddlerhood. Rather than a specific model which is made according to the instructions, admired for a while and then mixed up with the general lego pile never to emerge again, this set has a booklet with a number of detailed instruction and some ideas to get you started on further projects. The models are cruder in appearance so it doesn't matter if you can't find a particular piece, another will do. The favourite models have been the monkey which goes hand over hand along a string, and the automatic drink stirrer (used for making milkshakes here). A little adult help was needed to get the string at a suitable tension for the monkey to travel without coming off, but that was a very minor problem. There is also massive scope for your own design and invention. I put rechargeable batteries in the motor box and they have lasted for ages.

What fun! My six year old has enjoyed this toy so much he wanted to play with it rather than watching his favourite video. He finds that he can make the 'Quick Build' models himself and needs a bit of help with the more advanced models - which I don't mind at all as it gives me an excuse to play with it too! So far his fav builds are the walking dog & the crawling bug, but he's already making up a few. I would definitely recommend it, in fact I would go as far as to say its an ideal Christmas present!
