Product Description

Product Description

Explore, tunnel and excavate in the underground tunnels of an unexplored planet, light years from home. Establish and maintain the Rock Raiders HQ, protecting it and your teammates from the menacing Rock monsters and other creatures of the underground. Overcome all the obstacles as you collect precious energy crystals used to power your machinery and the ships' engines, and LEGO ore to build new machinery. Most importantly, proceed with extreme caution. (Ages 8 and older).

Amazon.co.uk Review

Deep, deep in space, the mining ship Explorer has spun into a blizzard of asteroids, which in turn have flung it, via a wormhole, right into the vortex of a far-off galaxy, whence it can return only when its restocked on vital energy crystals.

A mysterious, nearby planet is rich in these useful items--your mission, in this mildly amusing, quite clever, rather subtle and attractive game, is to teleport down to the planet with a team of blocky, moustachioed LEGO spacemen, a stable of tireless Rock Raider robots and much equipment and other supplies, and come back with the vital crystalline fuel.

Will your team get nabbed by the (rather unfrightening) monsters? Will they get lost in the labyrinthine-but-absorbing cave-systems? Will they finish the electric fence in time to fend off the dreaded Slimy Slug? Will you get bored by the endless permutations of laser cutters, chrome crushers, lava flows and drill upgrades long before you find your way home to the mother-ship? Not if you're a calm, patient, comparatively adept computer game-player aged about eight or upwards, with plenty of time to crack this perplexing inter-planetary puzzle. -- Sean Thomas

5.0 out of 5 stars Lego rock raiders by Stuart 31 Dec. 2000

Lego Rock raiders is an astounding Piece of work.going through all the levels collecting all the Crystals. The only problem about this game is that it is quite hard to control the machines and their equipment. If you want to get this game you should really buy the guide for it as the levels are quite complicated and detailed, it is easy to miss important items. This game I would say would intrest 8-15 year old people, but it could easily intrest older people too with its great graphics and levels. Hope you buy it and enjoy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lego Rock Raiders for PC CDROM 15 Jan. 2001
Strategy game for older children and adults. The excellent graphics are demanding for the system which will be sluggish on machines with the minimum specification. Lots of comical animation make the game amusing like when your rock raiders down tools and leg it to the support station to eat their sandwiches. You have to complete different missions until you reach the big one (I haven't got there yet). The instruction book is very concise and a lot of experimenting is needed to find out what does what. Very playable on fast PCs (Pentium 3, AMD Athlon/Duron). Lose a star for Pentium 2/AMD K6 systems which will have a lumpy feel making it difficult to control.

4.0 out of 5 stars Time Absorbent 10 Aug. 2007
Definitly a game that deserves commitment. This isn't a game that you can just slip into your disk drive each time and have a quick go. It gets you absorbed into the game straight away and, like a good book, you can't put it down. Easy game to follow, easy to play, but designed mainly for the elder generation of children. May be difficult for a younger child to understand.
