5.0 out of 5 stars All the action of the jungle chase 11 Sep 2008
By CJ TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The jungle cutter appears in (deep breath) Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull's famous jungle chase. It's an impressive piece of machinery and Lego have done a great job of re-creating it in brick form.

The set comprises the jungle cutter vehicle, some trees, a spooky cave plus Indiana Jones (complete with whip and rocket propelled grenade), Colonel Dovchenko and two Russian soldier minifigs.

The set is fairly easy to build, although the tracks on the jungle cutter are fiddly and smaller fingers may require some grown-up help. The blades on the front of the cutter rotate as it moves and mow down the trees, which are designed to break. The engine cover also explodes off when a piece is pushed in. The cave features a spider's web and is frankly very spooky.

This is a great set and well worth buying if you are an Indy or Lego fan. And even better if you are both!

5.0 out of 5 stars Unmistakably LEGO - Great toy 5 Jan 2010

My twelve-year-old had requested this particular LEGO set for Christmas and was delighted when he opened his present. He spent the rest of the morning setting it all up and combining it with the other Indiana Jones LEGO bits he already had.
As always with LEGO, the building instructions are very clear and easily understandable, but creating a challenge nonetheless for older children.

Great Toy, highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good set, high price 7 May 2013

This is a pricy set, perhaps because not too many have been made. I would recommend Flo and Alf's House of Bricks for secondhand lego. I bought this set from them for my grandson's birthday - half the price of new, and he doesn't know the difference as it came boxed and guaranteed 100% complete. It made it affordable and better value. Would recommend to anyone. The little lego ants are good fun and my 3 year old grandson laughed when he saw this vehicle and calls it the 'crab monster'.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very versatile set 17 Dec 2009
Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
When buying lego sets, I usually don't focus entirely on what the set itself contains, and more on the replayability of the set in different ways. In saying that, as a set in itself, the Jungle Cutter set is very well done, the jungle cutter itself looks very well detailed, and the breakable trees just add to the enjoyment of running things over with a giant cutting machine. Including Indiana Jones, Colonel Dovchenko and two Russian guards and five ants, the minifigure side of the set is also impressive, with Dovchenko only appearing in one set other than this one. Though it would have been nice to see Marion and Mutt at this price range. Alas. The set isn't too hard to build, though little ones will need some adult help for some of the more fiddly parts.

However, the set really shines on the replayability level, mainly due to the jungle cutter itself. As it comes with a set of treads and lots of green blocks (always helpful) the jungle cutter can be remodeled into anything you can think of- though admittedly I didn't get much further than 'a tank' and 'other vehicles with treads'. This helps if you have missing pieces, as the fun doesn't have to stop if you can make something new instead.

All in all, this is a very good set, with a lot of replayability in store for those who want to rebuild and remake whatever they feel like. However, as with all Lego sets, make sure you check the recommended retail price and shop around before, as prices fluctuate all the time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lego-wrong age pitch 6 Jun 2010

My son is nuts about lego and was overjoyed to get this as a present. The thing is that the age bracket for the build is way off. 7-14 is very optimistic. A 14 year old would have a good stab at it and have the patience, a 7 year old would have to have an adult make it for them. As in our case I had to make it and now I have to rebuild it when it falls apart, which this one does very easily. Lego are cashing on on merchandising links with films which is fair enough, but just because the child likes the film does not mean they will be able to build the toy. Take care with this when buying the product, unless you are a father and child 'team' both keen on lego. I just wish the figures were available as separates instead of only in VERY expensive dioramas. STAR WARS MAIN CHARACTERS AS INDIVIDUAL FIGURES PLEASE LEGO!! You are losing customers because of your greed.
