5.0 out of 5 stars And so my quest begins... 16 July 2012
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Not so long ago, in the same galaxy as you, popcorn player, a young jedi knight stumbled upon across this imperial star destroyer. Lego have been given the contract to produce these massive space ship giants for the dark empire, they also do make rebel crafts aswell.

Being a scheming little jedi, I lifted the blueprints for this beast when I infiltrated the massive death star which is currently under construction for the third time. When I arrived back in the degoba system, yoda was able to direct me to where I could locate the correct bricks to build this beast (Lego is in abundance in the degoba system).

Many centuries later, the star destroyer was complete with a few mods admittedly (some nice tribal vinyl, upgraded dark matter drive for a further 'hyper jump' range, larger shield capacitor).

Upon its construction I took the star destroyer to the location of the death star 3 and let the main weapon system rip. It had the desired effect, my only gripe was the lack of external photon turrets, though I downed the death star, I took some pretty heavy fire from tie fighters on the return journey to degoba and with a few extra turrets I believe this little problem can easily be remedied.

I am now mining for more Lego on a satellite planet within the degoba system with the help of the Lego aborigines. My goal is to build a star fleet out of Lego to defend the universe against the peril of the darkside. Its not an easy task, Lego often forms deep within the crust of certain planets when other atmospheric conditions are met - But the Lego aborigines and I will not give up, you don't have to thank me, for mine is a thankless job. This is Popcorn Player, Jedi galaxy defender, signing off.

(Cracking Lego model, plenty detail, daft price but will be a collectors piece in due time)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the Star Wars Lego family-but recommended for patient fans 2 Dec 2005

Durability: 4.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The Lego Imperial Star Destroyer is one of the nicest Lego sets out due to its sheer size, over 3,000 piece count, and just because its one of the most elegant looking designs in the Star Wars universe. Overall construction time for this set is about 12-16 hours (not factoring in breaks and whatnot) and a good sturdy work area is recommended (I used a card table to build mine on)-I would NOT build this set on the bed or floor due to later stability issues that will arise. Please note that if you are planning to display this set that an eventual droop will occur (or may not, but I have seen where its occurring more than its not occurring) in the ship due to the weight of the ship being on two support structures. There are numerous fixes for this that could be found online using internet search engines, from simple fixes like using pennies to more complex modifications including additional Lego pieces. Great kit, and recommended for the serious Lego Star Wars fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars Biggest and nicest Lego model ever 23 Oct 2005

At the time this model came out, it has been the largest set with 3104 bricks. It took me several days (12 - 16 hours) to assemble it. The model is very impressive do to its size of almost 1 meter (about 37 inches). Even though in the meantime Lego released the Death Star (model #10143) with more 3449 bricks, this is still the biggest one (size wise) around. Definitely a must-have for Lego/Star Wars fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great kit...but! 7 Jan 2007
By Paul Boerger - Published on Amazon.com
My 12 year old son and I are just finishing this up. First and foremost, the magnets and part attachments that hold the two bottom panels will NOT keep them on. We used a hot glue gun that easily solved the problem, but it was intially very frustrating. Surprising that LEGO would have such a flawed design at this price. Recommend that two people work on this together and lay out the parts by type and size before beginning construction (we used clear baggies). Typical great LEGO instructions with a HUGE manual. Overall, an amazing kit with a design flaw. This thing is BIG!
