It’s time to explore the World of HEROICA, a new series of exciting fantasy adventures from LEGO Games. Every HEROICA game is a unique adventure to build and explore, with new heroes, monsters, weapons and treasure. Each of the four sets takes place in a different landscape, from water and forest to caves and castles. All of the boxes can be combined to create bigger and more detailed missions with different levels of gameplay.

Gameplay
Based on classic dungeon games, players are tasked with saving this once peaceful place of culture and beauty from the monsters which overrun it. Characters have individual skills and personalities, and can collect upgrades on the way, travelling through tunnels, unlocking secret doors, fighting enemies and collecting treasure, weapons, potions and keys. Using the unique LEGO buildable dice, symbols decide on who wins in battle against different monsters, how many health points are lost, and which special weapons players can use.
Rearrange the board to create different adventures, combine regions to expand your game and collect all four games to create the ultimate HEROICA world!

Join the battle to save Draida Bay!

As my son is into lego and is just starting to get into board games I thought I would try out the smallest (and cheapest)of the heroica sets.
Apart from the instructions,a map and a rules book ,which is very small and easy to understand, you get just over 100 pieces which are divided into six 6x6 flat block areas.
The set inlcudes 8 mini figures (not full size lego men) which are well detailed and identifiable.
There are two heroes which are both different and 6 monsters for them to fight. This being the smallest set it is limited in that it has one treasure to find and a potion to collect.
When set up it measures 21cm long by 13cm wide and one of the biggest bonuses for me is that it fits (set up) in the box, so you don't have to worry about pieces being lost or mixed up with other stuff.
The other bonus is that it can be connected up with the other three sets of heroica so extending the life and game play.
It advises ages 7 upwards but I think that is if the child is the one buying and setting it up, with an adult or older child any age from 4 upwards would be able to participate, and as the each game lasts 5-15 mins it doesn't require huge concentration levels.
The rules are as basic as you can get with you rolling the dice to move and again to see if you or the monster is hurt or wins. A big plus is the fact that you can change those rules to make them as easy or difficult as you like or to cater for a particular age group.
Also if you have any other lego with bits of treasure you can add or to make the areas a bit bigger you can go right ahead. We had some of the atlantis sets and used bit form those to make it more interesting.
