My son got this dump truck as a gift; he already had a Mega Bloks CAT articulated dump truck that works fine with Duplos, but this one is genuine LEGO Duplo.
It is a basic dump truck. The truck seems much larger than a typical LEGO Duplo truck, but its cab is the same width. This has a hood, and the dump bin extends out from the side, giving it a larger appearance. The dump bin is large enough to haul another Duplo vehicle, or perhaps a dozen Duplo bricks.
The LEGO Duplo figure is a hard-hat construction worker -- a valued type of LEGO guy as observed.
The dump bin can be removed, allowing the rest of the truck to become a flat bed. And this makes the truck itself a favorite.
As a flat bed, the truck gets re-purposed and reconfigured in so many ways that it hardly ever gets used as a dump truck. But that's OK. LEGO Duplos allow kids to create and re-create all kinds of stuff. It's fun to see what he does with them.
The wheels on this truck are rigid plastic, as are most LEGO Duplo vehicles. These rigid tires make more noise on a hard floor than the Mega Bloks CAT trucks do. The LEGO axels seem to be tougher steel than some toys, because the wheels stay in alignment while other brands get bent, making the tires wobble a bit after a while.
No batteries required. Works well with all the Duplo stuff he already has.
I think LEGO makes very high quality toys. I trust this private Danish company because it has decades of reputation providing very safe and well engineered toys that work well and give a lot of value. My son has LEGO Duplos handed down from his cousins from at least fifteen years ago in some cases. Everything works with everything else, and that makes them favorites.
