I used to have the yellow bin wagon from the 1980s, so I was interested to see how this one would compare. First off, the detailing is superb. Smokestacks, licence plates, sack trolley and a neatly detailed worker. Great stuff! The lifting mechanism is a nice touch, acurately mimicking the hydraulics of the real thing. There is also plenty of rubbish for our lone refuse collector to clear up too! The bin lifting mechanism works fine, so long as the bin doesn't have more than three pieces of waste in (which is really all there's room for) and the wagon does a good job of containing the waste as you trundle around Lego City. Where the set may have been improved is with some opening doors for the cab (I really miss these!) and an extra mini-figure or two (there's room for two standing figures at the back - and handholds for them!). There's also a problem with the hinged bricks at the rear of the container frequently coming away from the chasis, which seems to be the result of the stronger hydraulic mechanism when it tips the container. As this effects one of the key functions, I can't rate it higher than 3 out of 5.
