Lego are going into Space - and this particular set contains quite a few different elements and is an ideal stand alone or addition to any Space collection. All the pieces come in 2 bags, for the different elements, so there isn't too much hunting for pieces. I would say it's a build best suited for a 6 year old or above (my five year old needed quite a bit of help as there are quite a lot of teeny bits that are tricky for small hands).

The first section to build is the launch pad which includes a rocket and a small satellite you can attach to it and the control pad. This is all straight forward but the little van is a bit more challenging, we found the front of the little van (12cm long and 8cm tall by my measurements) very difficult to add and it is a bit prone to coming loose with play. That said the detailing to all the models is a nice touch - there are rather a lot of stickers where printed pieces may have been nicer, but elements such as the computer screen (sure the mug of coffee next to it is a health and safety concern though!), and the fact that you can pretend to launch the rocket as the support to it swings down and the satellite detaches are nice elements to the set.

My child really enjoyed building this, it's a shame it comes with a technician mini-figure and not an actual astronaut (for that you will have to buy a bigger set) and that there is the issue with the vehicle front, and the back is a bit tricky to open and close to put the little computer table into it. That said, for the price, you seem to be getting a fair bit of lego here, and it's one of those sets that does get played with after construction. Recommended.

The detail on this product is amazing, right down to the coffee cup for beside the computer workstation! My son is 3 and although this had to be built for him, he absolutely loves it and it has been great for his imagination. Something to add to for years to come, Lego has definitely been a great addition to his toy collection!!

The attention to detail is what Lego really does best, that and making so many models that keep your kids entertained for a long long time.

This Satellite Launch Pad Set I bought when on offer along with the free postage so a really good buy both pricewise and also for the amount of bits included in the set. When done it looks good, plus educational I know we had a chat about what a real one would do etc. So Lego do well at playing but also the learning part too another plus for me.

Just so amazing better than son thought when put together, he loves the satellite and the little fiddly bits that come with it. Have bought another base plate so that when put together easier to move when dusting his bedroom and no loose bits to get stuck the cleaner.

What our eleven year old can't work out though is "Why all the sets if vehicles are included in it come with cups, do Lego makers think that every vehicle should have them as standard?" Not sure mysef but if you look at this set the motorhome set and ship you will see what he means. They all have them.

If looking for a Lego gift for boys or girls this Christmas this is one that will cateer for both.

The only thing now though is that son does not like to take apart his models once done, so running out of space fast.

The Satellite Launch Pad is a clever and is fantastic value for money. It contains the lego pieces to make:
Launch Vehicle
Astro Scientist Minifigure and console
Rocket with detachable satellite
Launch Pad

It is very detailed and this can be a little fiddly for very small fingers but it has great play value for any lego fan with an interest in space once complete

A very impressive kit

A great Lego model that ticks all the boxes, my 6 year old niece loves this model and never tires from trying to put together, that said she has needed assistance on occasion - while some say these items are purely a toy, I believe that it teaches a child to translate information from paper into a 3D shape, the colour coding also enhances a child's ability for him or her to learn. All in all I would recommend this item.

Kids love rocket ships.

This is a very versatile, very good value for money kit, including a rocket, control console and van, as others have noted this is basically three good toys in one. Fits nicely with other sets, not just space but any City kit, notably airport and transport lines. Many of the components can be easily used in other models.

The technician minifig looks the part and though some are disappointed its not an astronaut, I think its good to show supporting staff and how many people are involved in what is a complex operation. The satellite launch and the completed satellite in orbit is an excellent demonstration of space technology for kids.

Overall, very good, and supplier ensured sufficient packaging to prevent damage in transit, which is sometimes a problem (well, the only problem really) with ordering LEGO from amazon.

My five-year old grandson was delighted with this toy - had to make it straight away and has continued to play with it every day since he received it, his imagination knows no bounds. Very good value, as most LEGO things are.
