5.0 out of 5 stars Blue Lego Plane! 29 July 2011
By Delia
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Brilliant Lego! (also helped I got it 10 cheaper off Amazon than from anywhere else!)

Bought this for my son's 4th birthday - he loved it, we had to put it together there and then as soon as he opened it. Pretty easy to put together as with all Lego instruction books - easy to follow and piece together as you go. Took around 45 mins with my son lending a helping hand, passing me the pieces etc and playing with it half built. Comes with some great little minifigures - A Pilot, Passenger and Airport Worker. Along with the plane as per the picture you get a airport vehicle, a suitcase and the radio/signal tower? (not sure of the precise name but it's that thing on a stick coloured red & white that moves!)

The top of the plane comes away in two parts so you can put the passengers in, the front cockpit also comes away so you can put the pilot in, easy enough for my son to do on his own without the plane dropping to pieces so keeps him very happy that he "can do it on his own" as he tells me.

No faults to mention with this piece of Lego, we've even bought some extra lights direct from Lego 'pick a brick' section and my son has now covered the top of his plane in lights to make it so it can "see in the dark when it's landing". I'd actually give this product more than 5*'s if you could. My son's love's playing with it now and I'm sure he'll get loads of use out of it in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value 15 Nov 2010
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Bought this for my son's 8th birthday. As always with Lego, it is very durable and the instruction booklet is easy to follow. Once built, the roof is easy to take off so you can have a look at the interior.

My 10 year old son also enjoys rebuilding it to his own specifications! I would highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great kit and (believe it or not) good value 8 Mar 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
My 7 year old son had money to spend after Christmas and wanted Lego. He could have afforded either this kit or two Prince of Persia kits. It took about an hour for his older brother and me to persaude him that this kit had many more pieces and would be more fun.

I'm pleased to say we were right, rather than the money going on a licence to Disney it gets spent on bricks.

There's a lot to this model, you won't build it in five minutes flat and the result is a really solid piece of kit. While you might think there would be lots of large moulded pieces there are, in fact, very few. This means that once he is finally fed up of playing planes there will be a use for all the bricks.

He's had a lot of Star Wars Lego and the kits usually get broken up in a day and turned into other things whereas he's just enjoyed playing with this one. So much so that his Birthday list is filling up with Lego City Airport requests.

4.0 out of 5 stars Why have Lego stopped making it? 26 Jan 2014
By LISAP
Verified Purchase
Luckily I was able to find this discontinued plane on Amazon. As with all Lego it is nice enough, well thought out and my son loves it, and was able to make it up independently, but it is too expensive for a few bags of plastic. I feel with this product, as with most other Lego products, the box is always bigger than it needs to be, and I cynically ponder, is it to disguise how little, I feel I get for my money? The bigger box also takes more precious storage space in the cupboard, which is a problem if you have an avid Lego fan in your house.
