This is a great game, possibly the greatest Lego game ever, 50 playable characters, 23 Heroes, 27 Villains, 15 Levels, 250 Gold Bricks, 1 Hidden Level plus much more!!!
Pros:
Great characters
Ease of play
Great Vehicles
Massive Hub, all of Gotham city
Excellent 2-Player!!
The limited edition gives you an excellent little Lex Luthor toy which is well worth getting!!

Cons:
The Helicopters are terrible to drive, The Checkpoint races for the 3 Helicopters are awful, they don't seem to raise or lower and the checkpoints take ages to spawn and they're very hard to see!!!

The bonus level is very boring, you've got to collect 1,000,000 studs and it takes the best part of 1 hour to complete, you only get a single gold brick for it and the two vehicles they give you to drive in it are absolutely awful!!!!

There are 154 Gold Bricks hidden around Gotham City which is a huge amount and they take an age to get, they are dull and the autosave doesn't allow you to move until it's saved after every gold brick!!!!

Finally-SPOILER ALERT-They shouldn't have chosen Supergirl to be the last character to unlock, she's cool, but she has the same abilities as Superman!!

Fun: 5/5
Gameplay: 4.5/5
Physics: 4.5/5 Overall: 14/15

Bought this and got right into it. Two things to note straight away: 1) you do not get to experience Gotham City in true free play until you complete all 15 story levels, 2) You do not play as anyone other than Batman, Robin and Superman until right at the end of the story. I was expecting one or two of the other Justice League members to show up earlier than that.

This is essentially LEGO Batman 2: Batman & Superman.

It is not truly a DC Heroes game other than in free play and for a couple of levels at the end of the story.

The story itself makes sense but seems to wander when you first play through it as you are constantly waiting for the rest of the heroes to turn up.

Once you finish story it opens the game up MASSIVELY.

There are villains scattered across the city to defeat (which sometimes means just punching them three times but sometimes you need to do more). Once defeated you can buy them but you just don't get many studs in this game compared to how much these guys are to buy.

This leads to the problem with studs/red bricks. Red Bricks are no longer in levels and can be found hidden around the city.

The map feature shows where red bricks can be found but you will need certain villains to unlock them. However, you need lots of studs to buy villains in the first place and can't unlock the multiplier bricks to get extras until you have spent studs on the villains. I suggest saving your studs for as long as you can and then buying Riddler and Joker ASAP as these two open the red bricks.

In summary, my basic gripe with the game is the lack of direction.

Bought for my son in law, who loves the game, as does my grandson (ages 38 & 10!) Highly recommended for sci-fi and comic book fans.

The LEGO game franchise is a story of evolution, both in a positive and negative fashion. Each new game has brought something new to the franchise, but they generally also make at least one massive blunder that hampers the game. `LEGO Batman 2' is no different; a positive new feature is the open world structure that allows Batman and pals to roam Gotham City at will; negative features include the camera whilst flying and the poor story. Before delving any deeper into the pros and cons of the game, some more information may be required.

`LEGO Batman 2' sees the return of the Caped Crusader and his handy sidekick, but this time you also get the rest of the DC Justice League including Flash, Wonder Woman and Superman. Despite getting ten or so new characters to play with, they don't really arrive until the very end of the game, except for Supes. The erstwhile Clark Kent is an excellent addition to the franchise with the ability to fly, super strength, ice breath and laser vision, but he is also a pain to control in the air. `LEGO Batman 2' is a game best played in co-op. This is a local affair and the screen splits according to where each character is on the screen. If one player is flying around, the screen goes everywhere and can result in one/both players being sick.

Camera issues have always been a problem with the LEGO games, but story rarely has. The first Batman game had a new narrative and it was a fun battle between Batman and the likes of Joker and The Penguin. `LEGO Batman 2' has some really dull story that is mostly chasing a robot around the city. More time appears to have been spent on the open world elements of the game, rather than the story mode.

I have to admit, I never really got the Lego franchise. I mean who wants to play a dumbed down version of any game never mind one where the characters can't speak?

Fortunately there is speech in Lego Batman 2 (yay) but it's not about the speech or not, it's about how playable the game is, an for it's audience how much you get from it.

On the fun score it is 4/5 as it's entirely open, you're free to roam and smash nearly everything using broken bricks to build stuff & help solve puzzles.

You can play as many different characters not only Batman and Robin. The highlight most definitely being Batman & Superman, the interaction between them is highly amusing.

Although the game is supposed to be from seven up, I've had some trouble solving and getting through some stages. I can imagine the frustration it can present for some children.

It could be that the rating is 7+ but it can't be that the game is targeted at that age groups. Lego Batman 2 brilliance is that it is able to provide entertainment for kids and adults with equal aplomb.

I'd highly recommend Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes if you pick up 1 "Lego" game it should be this. It's not just for kids.
