City living, Lego style 27 Dec 2010
By Justin G. - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
One of the highlights of my son's Christmas this year was unwrapping the Lego City House, one of the best recent additions to the Lego City line. This incredibly detailed and very attractive set is the perfect companion piece to the LEGO City Corner (7641) set. It's a 3-level townhouse with a good-sized side yard and front porch. Inside you'll find a tiny sink, oven, table and chairs, couch, bed and computer desk. Outside there's a patio chair, mailbox, trash can, grill, and tree (with tree house). The set includes three minifigures (a mom, dad and skateboarding boy), plus the family dog.

Complexity - The set includes 383 pieces, and is designed for builders age 5 and up. Had it been any other day I would have encouraged my son to take on most of the assembly, but it was Christmas morning so I took over while my son played with the minifigures. It took about an hour from start to finish.

Playability - The sky is the limit with this set. You can create various domestic scenes inside the house, and the yard area is large enough to bring in additional minifigures. My only complaint is that despite its impressive height, there isn't much depth to the house. It's a sturdy set all-around, and is appropriate for a 5 year old who is reasonably careful with his/her toys. It's also a fairly gender-neutral set, which is nice.

This is a really terrific set overall, and a great addition to the Lego City line. It's an ideal starter set for younger builders, and one with plenty of potential for repeat playing.

8 year old daughter LOVES this set!!! 7 Jan 2011
By B. Frassinelli - Published on Amazon.com
Durability:    Educational:    Fun:
This was my daughter's very first "major" Lego set! She has always enjoyed smaller projects and watching her 9 year old brother put together his big sets...but this was her first. SHE IS HOOKED!

Easy to follow color picture directions. She had this done in a few hours! I am so excited that she is in love, because as a kid, Legos were MY favorite thing to play with!

This set also comes well organized with numbered baggies of building blocks to follow along with the instruction manual.

BUY IT! You will have such fun!

Lego City House is Great! 24 Feb 2011

I have Legos that have been played with by 4 generations in my family, not new ones but old ones played with. My mother built the kids a table and things for these legos, I built the sets when they were small, my kids played with them, they all grew up and moved away and I kept all the Lego's. Now my grandkids play with them. We have one castle I know was the first and it turned 30 last year, still works as advertised, legos are wonderful. This set has not only the house but has a dog, a tree house, a lounger chair and a barbeque and even a shorter than the parents boy with a skate board.

I love this product! It has tons of great little details and its nice that you can switch around the floors as you please! Note this is an easy build (as most city sets are) but it is completely worth getting.

Pretty cool, if a bit pricey 30 May 2011

Not sure when Legos became such an expensive toy. For how much this cost, I expected it to be larger. But since my daughter paid for it with her own money, I'm not complaining too much. Obviously it's worth that to her. She built this house as soon as it arrived and it's been on my dining room table being played with every day since (about two weeks now). The details are quite charming and thought through well enough to provide tons of creative play time. Not sure how many configurations this one has gone through, but I do like that most of the Lego City toys can be built into more than one design.

I think my daughter would rate this a five-star. But given the price compared to the size, I had to give it four stars. Lego needs to remember that some of their toys still appeal to kids. This isn't a collector set. Price it accordingly.
