If you have a Lego fan at home, then you will know that even when you buy the really expensive sets of Lego that have some kind of theme, they only have enough bricks to build that model. My son tends to take them apart and make them into new ships and buildings. So he ends up needing more to build higher, bigger and better. This 1600 piece box certainly helps him to do that. I suggest buying a LEGO Creator 626: Large Green Baseplate, so you can build and keep the Lego structures.The baseplates are available in various colours and sizes. I highly recommend it for children of ages 5 upwards or when they stop eating Lego bricks and shoving them up their noses. Been there, seen it and got the T Shirt.

What can I say? This is Lego - a name everyone knows and trusts. There are so many bricks in this box that no child could fail to have fun. A few 'base plates' would have been useful but these can be bought separately. My only criticism is that some of the special pieces - such as the eyes - are very small and difficult to locate amongst the rest. I wish they had been in a separate container. The best thing is that Lego holds its value and never goes out of fashion. I'd definitely recommend this as a starter set.

This box came with so many pieces it was great value. As always with Lego, the quality is excellent but the variety of pieces in the box makes it such a versatile present and should inspire any child's imagination. I would highly recommend this box as a great gift and as a good starting platform for any Lego collection.

Lego may be expensive but the cost is soon forgotten when you see the hours of play that will be had. Lasts for years, few toys will match the value of Lego. It is a perfect toy.
