Book Description

For over five thousand years, there were always three binding rules for all Masters of Sinanju:

1) Payment is always in gold. No checks.
2) There is only one Master and one pupil.
3) No woman will ever be trained in Sinanju.

Sunny Joe Roam will throw the last two rules out the window in order to fulfill his tribe's oldest commitment. He will train both Stone Smith and his half-sister Freya Williams in the deadly art of Sinanju, ushering in a new era for the tribe. But will the lethal brother-sister duo be enough to help their new boss Benjamin Cole stop the Great Mexican Ninja Army from invading the southwestern United States?

This action-packed new series is based on the wildly popular "Destroyer" series, which has sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. Gerald Welch and "Destroyer" co-creator Warren Murphy have collaborated on LEGACY to bring the mythical martial art of Sinanju to a whole new generation of readers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something new, something old 5 Dec. 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Short version: an excellent read. I recommend warmly.
The long version:
Gerald Welch has previously written in The Last Witness franchise and Warren Murphy co-founded The Destroyer series with Richard Sapir over a hundred novels ago. I have been reading the Destroyer since I was a teenager (hitting 30 next year) and now there's something new in the market. Something with...mexican ninjas ? The Destroyer has had a history of pulling stunts like dropping locomotives from lower orbit, killers with invisibility paint, vegetarian vampires and souped up super soakers that cause earthquakes. And now mexican ninjas.
But if you're an longtime follower of the Destroyer and expecting Remo and the Master of Sinanju Chiun, neither makes an appearance here. Sorry.
Legacy continues the story started in Destroyer #100 of twin brothers from Sinanju of which one left his home village in Korea and ended up in pre-Columbus North America where he became a member of a native tribe. After a lot of history this story of twin Masters of Sinanju culminated in Remo Williams, The Destroyer. And in his daughter Freya, whose future in Sinanju is what Forgotten Son (yes, there is a son also. Everyone forgets him) continues.
If you have never heard of the Destroyer but Legacy: Forgotten Son still ended up in your Amazon recommendations, Assassin's Handbook 2 reads very much like an introduction to all charcaters and institutions involved. (sadly it is out of print unless you're a Kindle owner or eBay shopper.)
Lots of action and mayhem, a minor villain, an archvillain. All this and it was a good start.

A spin-off from the destroyer series, for anyone not familiar with this series you're missing a real treat, I don't know what else to tell you other than just buy this book and you'll love it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too much 8 April 2014

Not as good as the original. Should've left it alone.
It's an ok read for a new reader, updating the series but for the old Remo fans it's just too new.

4.0 out of 5 stars More Remo and Chiun please 6 Oct. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Good but I prefer original Destroyer series.
As hardcopies are unobtainable in the UKI would be delighted if all the Destroyer titles would be made available on Kindle so that I can obtain numbers 70-112 to complete my collection.
