I decided on these lights in order to do my wallet and the environment a favour-no more batteries. fantastic.

They are a classic example of not-quite-there technology; nice idea. uninspiring execution.

Wind them up for over a minute and you'll get some blindingly bright led's flashing in your face, for about 5-10 minutes if you're lucky, after which they'll dull right down to being rather unspectacular, and certainly nothing to fill you with confidence on a dark evening in london town.

Together with a poorly thought out attachment design-didn't come close to fitting round my 38mm diameter seat post-which offers few options, i can only recommend these for use as an emergency back up, for VERY short rides, or in an environment where ambient light is particularly low (good for my mother in the countryside perhaps?)

In the meantime my wallet and the environment are going to have to take another hit from battery power to keep me safe at night on these mean streets. Which is rather irritating, but hey, i'm thankful to have an emergency back up!

The bike lights are VERY good. Having read the reviews, I now have a set and am extremely pleased with their brightness and longevity. When wound up fully, I achieved over 90 minutes of good illumination in flash mode - excellent for a no-battery product! Top Drawer!

The wind-up power is great, saves the hassle and cost of batteries.
The problem is that, though the bracket fits to the front of a bike easily, it is near impossible to fit the rear light to anything without the light being in the way of your leg. Questionable design.
