I was sceptical about this product but bought it when I was in quite a bit of pain which is akin to food shopping when you're hungry. I'm happy to say that I'd now highly recommend it as it's got me back on my feet - especially at such a low cost.
The product is sturdy and well made - the straps are easily adjustable and the cushioning makes it quite comfortable.
I felt an improvement after one night. It's initially awkward to sleep in and I woke up a few times after inadvertently kicking myself or feeling numbness as my foot got stretched. On painful days, I'd put it on for an hour or two whilst watching tv or working on my laptop which also helped.
I suffer pain in both feet so put the brace on the worst foot at night then put it on the other foot for a couple of hours in the morning. I also sometimes swap nights when the other one is playing up.
I've had the brace for a few weeks now and even took it on holiday with me. Combined with use of insole supports, I've been able to start jogging again and can walk for a couple of hours with limited discomfort which was impossible before.
A couple of things to note:
- Your feet can get numb or pins and needles in the night which is uncomfortable. They do flag this up in the small slip of paper you get with it and advise adjusting straps which does work.
- The cushioning part is not removable for washing so I would recommend socks or just washed feet to avoid getting it dirty.
- One side of my foot felt a little sore - as if tendons had cramped up, after all night use. However this is very short term discomfort and WAY better than the original pain.
- As I no longer have pain to motivate me, I've stopped doing the recommended exercises and not sure whether this is bad for me long term. But that's not really the product's fault.
Finally there is a black wedge that comes with it but I've not been able to figure out what it's for...?
