Book Description

1 Sep 2011
The Olympic Games is the world's biggest sporting extravaganza with athletes from more than 200 countries either attempting to qualify or actually competing in more than two dozen sports over three weeks. There are hundreds of stories from the Games, stretching back to the end of the 19th century, tales of bravery, misery, joy and despair, together with thought-provoking lists and records. "The Olympic Games Miscellany" isn't a history book, a biography, an encyclopedia or a records book, but it is a little bit of all of them. All true sports fans will enjoy dipping into these pages and learning about some of the greatest athletes ever to have taken the Olympic Oath.

As you will see if you look on the internet or in your local bookstore, there are 100s of books about the Olympics. But there is only one L2012 Olympic Games Miscellany and this is an officially endorsed book that I can highly recommend if you are searching for one all encompassing piece of work from both a historical and an informative nature.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Olympic Games In A Nutshell 12 Jun 2012
By Shelly
All you know, think you know, have forgotten and wish to know about the Olympic Games is in this quirky little book. A really fascinating read and a great insight into past Olympic Games. However, I did notice a duplication of one entry. So if you intend to watch the Games get yourself a copy of this book and gen-up on what happened at previous Olympic Games.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Rings To Match 5 Stars 7 Jun 2012
If you are looking for a single book which will teach you all you could possibly ever wish to know about the Olympic Games then buy this brilliant book. It is a superb read from first page to last and will inform you about all of the famous athletes and sportsmen and sportswomen who have graced past Games and went home with the gold medal. Keep it beside you when you watch the London 2012 Games and see how previous athletes compared in the various Olympic finals. I thoroughly recommend this book and modestly priced it is a bargain buy on Amazon.
