4.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy, if you just need the DLCs 11 Dec 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
A little heads up about this Complete Version.
I played the original one, and I loved it (huge fan of action-adventure games of old). I just wanted this new version because of the DLCs on disk, so I sold my "normal" and bought this. But... my old saves data didn't work at all!!! I discovered that to play the missing missions (and have their achievements), I would have to PLAY THE WHOLE GAME FROM THE START, 'cause Rockstar, instead of putting the DLC in a little side disk, has integrated them INTO the plot!
Thankfully the game is the same (maybe even better, 'cause they fixed some issues), and so are the achievements. So if you already have an achievement you don't need to unlock it again (it's not BATMAN Arkham asylum and Batman Arkham asylum GOTY, that are 2 different games), but this transform the Complete version into something for people who didn't play the title AT ALL, not for collectors (unless you want to go through it again)! Furthermore, someone said that the old version savings will prevent the Complete Edition from saving at all! So you'll actually have to delete your old saves completely to get the new ones to work... or move them somewhere else (I didn't check).
Hope the info helps.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Having played the PS3 version of this when it was originally released back in 2011, i had very fond memories of the unique gameplay, impressive graphics and compelling story line contained within. However, during my initial play through of the PS3 version, my beloved 80gb brick PS3 decided to develop the yellow light of death whilst playing this very game and alas no more next gen gaming or LA Noire for me.

Now its early 2013 and having recently picked up an XBOX 360 250gb bundle for next to nothing through a very competitive deal by the UK's largest supermarket just before xmas, i decided it was time to revisit the fondly remembered LA Noire and this time i opted for The Complete Edition to hopefully have a more immersive gaming experience, and I was not disappointed...

In my opinion, LA Noire along with GTA Vice City and Bully are some of the finest Rockstar gaming experiences you could ever have. Although this is no GTA in its gameplay style, it certainly has the Rockstar feel that you would expect, featuring a fantastic Jazz based soundtrack and an authenticity of the 1940's noire film genre that is unparalleled (especially if you choose to play in B & W).

I whole heartedly recommend this awesome game and advise that it is definitely worth purchasing The Complete Edition as the extra missions really do add positively to the overall gameplay experience.

On a side note, if you have ever played Heavy Rain on the PS3 and enjoyed it, LA Noire is of a similar gameplay style, yet more immersive and in my opinion has more replay value.

5.0 out of 5 stars A multi faceted game 25 July 2014

I love this game and this edition carries extra content. The scene is set not long after the 2nd world war in an LA which is under development. The aim is to solve the various types of crime by being the police officer and interacting with characters throughout the game. It is not a 'shooting' game nor a puzzle game but a combination of the two with some fast driving thrown in. Vehicles are there for the taking and on one occasion I had my character take a fire engine from the station next door and my partner asked "What's wrong with a police car?" When I returned the vehicle to the place I picked it up - it had already been replaced! The game is free ranging over the streets of LA and original clips from radio shows and news can be heard on the vehicle radio. There is a road map up in the police station and it is made clear during the course of the game that the city is very much under construction. The quality of reproduction is very good and clues can be gathered by carefully watching expressions when interviewing suspects; this is a strong feature of this game. Extra excitement can be had by answering calls made from dispatch over the radio and this brings in an element of speed. Sometimes it is nice just to take a vehicle and gently drive it around checking out the scenery and listening to the radio. Periodically, the game throws up a cameo piece which gives clues to your detective's life prior to joining the LA police. All in all well worth the money and time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for those who like detective-based games! 29 July 2014

Quite an okay game, only complaint is that some cases can be harder to crack than others as you literally have to focus entirely on what's being said or done. Ten seconds of taking your eyes of the screen is enough for the player to lose out on hearing some information which could help crack the cases. This aside, the game is definitely worth a buy and will keep you entertained for hours.
