Battery powered, this electric ceramic knife sharpener is the perfect solution for at-home resharpening and refreshening of your ceramic kitchen knives. Ideal for Kyocera Ceramic knives, the diamond grinding stone can take up to .5mm nicks off a blade, achieving a 35-degree angle. A convenient knife guide slot and assist roller allow for a user-friendly and controlled sharpening of the blade. For left or right handed use. Not recommended for metal knives. It's easy to clean since cover and grinding stone unit is separate. A replacement diamond grinding stone is available for future use. Not recommended for the following Kyocera knives: KT-075-HIP-D, KT-200-HIP-D, KC-25N WH, FK-125N WH or BK.PS-180 BK. Battery Powered: 4 AA batteries not included.

I have two Kyocera knives, one I bought, the other a gift. See my review for the one I bought from Amazon, Kyocera FK Series White Ceramic 13cm Slicing Knife. After 9 months, I found the knife beginning to blunt and it had developed a small chip in the edge. I bought the sharpener, and with very little practice it brought my first knife back to a keen edge, as new and the chip was gone. Although the cost of the knives and the sharpener may be a little more, I think they are worth it. I heartily recommend the sharpener for anyone who has and loves ceramic knives. This sharpener keeps them in excellent condition although I don't need to use it often.

Tip: Read the instructions carefully and don't rush the task. The sharpener is most effective when used slowly.

Bought this because it was for Ceramic knives and with the added bonus of being able to reduce nicks in ceramic blades. Sadly it has done the diamond wheel in before it was any real benefit. Given the price i did enquire about getting a replacement wheel from the suppliers. They didnt do them and put me onto the importer who asked around and said they didnt know a lot about the item either.
I was particular to follow the instructions and use only light pressure the requisite number of times.
The other Major drawback is that its Battery Operated which unless you use rechargeable batteries adds to the cost.

This is the only sharpener i have seen for these knives and its expense far outweights its usefullness sadly.

Had hardly bought a ceramic knife set when slightly chipped one, however this sharpener really did the business. Followed the instructions carefully and a few strokes later voila! no chip, and extremely an sharp knife. Would recommend that after use the batteries are removed as can see will hardly ever need to use (I have put them in the electric can opener) but so nice to have reliable sharpener handly for later inevitable lack of sharpness - although when I'm not sure as they do keep their edge. Expensive but worth it as foolproof.
