Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The authors of Kylie Naked assure us in their introduction that there wasn’t time to obtain Kylie’s co-operation with this exploration of her life and career; a bit unfortunate since her involvement may have resulted in something more than the bog-standard showbiz biography that we have ended up with. Kylie’s career from TV soap queen as the lovable Charlene in Neighbours to international pop star is covered in a rather routine fashion and features none of the surprises which are surely half the point of celebrity books like this. The trouble is that there is no controversy in Kylie’s life that we don’t already know about and that which we do is dredged up again as old news and dressed in rather unnecessary rumour and speculation (do we really need to know that Michael Hutchence may have allegedly been in the middle of a bizarre sexual act when he died?) To their credit, the authors don’t try and shatter her girl-next-door image and her career is covered in almost bang up-to-date detail, including an extra chapter to take account of her recent success with "Can’t Get You Out of My Head" and her fantastic performance at the 2002 Brits Awards. Hopefully the Princess of Pop will find time one day to pen her autobiography, but until then Kylie: Naked is as thorough and an enjoyable account of her life as you could possibly want.--Jonathan Weir

Just to say this book is a must for all Kylie fans, it tells all from Neighbours to her singing career.
A very interesting read.

This taught me all I needed to know about that utterly wonderful woman, Kylie, and it has some great pictures too. The ones early on in her career demonstrate she hasn't always been the style icon she is now!

There is heaps of information about her past and lots of quotes and I'd recommend it to anyone with an interest in La Minogue.

All aboard the Kylie press boat...this one is going to sink 19 Oct 2002

I perused this book while at a Borders. Being a bit of an expert on Australia, I have known about the "Kylie phenomenon" which has been going on for quiet sometime in the world (other than the U.S.). Of course, now that Kylie has broken down the doors to the American market, money is to be made on her likeness and all that is Kylie.

KYLIE NAKED is nothing but fluff. What else do you expect from someone who writes for the SUN? The basis of my opinion stems from the fact that Vincent Lovegrove's book BURN is a major source in the writing of this pulp fiction. For those who are unaware, BURN by Vincent Lovegrove had its rights pulled by its publishers; the author's sources were not reliable, his stories contrived. Lovegrove thanks people who have been dead for years/whom he has never met in his epilogue. BURN is one of several biographies about the late lead singer of INXS, Michael Hutchence.

Hutchence was one of the men in Minogue's life; their affairs highly publicized (not much in the U.S. as we are in our own little bubble). Minogue has credited Hutchence posthumously for being the single most important man in her life, introducing to her to a world from which she was sheltered, changing her perspective and image, in turn, making her the Kylie the world has come to know.

If a book's publisher has pulled its rights and KYLIE NAKED cites it as a source, (and often may I add; about 2-3 chapters mention Hutchence alone), then what is to make this book any more legitimate?
