Product Description

Product Description

With 11-15 noisemakers and at least 5 different sounds, these new toys are sure to keep pooches occupied and happy. Each Tuff Guy has his own story.

Meet Lars. From an early age it was apparent that Lars was unable to grow hair on his head. When confronted about this topic, his response was simply Hair doesn't grow on steel. Lars found his true calling in ice hockey, where he was feared as the dirtiest player in Europe at the ripe age of 12. After years of intense skating and fighting, Lars has since made a quiet living for himself on his rustic ranch in Montana. He is pursuing a new passion as a country singer and hopes to release his first single in May of 2012. Measures 24.89 cm length by 8 cm width by 46.99 cm height.

Caution: Designed for supervised play only, not designed for aggressive chewers. Please remove all tags before play.

Expensive for a dog toy but the Tuff Guy Toys are so well made and extremely tough they seem to last much longer than the cheaper toys so in the end will work out more cost effective. They are large and given I only have a Chihuahua he can lie on this like a cushion but he loves the squeaks and whilst it looks quite ugly the dog loves it so that's all that matters. Albeit he has had a number of Tuff Guy toys over the last couple of weeks so this one is going to be put up for Christmas (sad I know but I do it for my young niece who takes Christmas serious and insists the puppy has his own gifts). Worth paying the extra money for in my opinion and I have purchased at least a dozed different large Tuff Guy toys. Whilst Chihuahua are small dogs they sure have sharp teeth and has ripped a number of cheaper toys apart in a short space of time but not so the Tuff Guy toys.

My King Charles cavalier, absolutely adores these 'tuff guys' very entertaining, hours of play for him and funny when friends come round and see his toy! He loves showing them off! Just brought his second one and will buy them forever more

Bought this for my staffy, who is quite strong but likes cuddly toys
He wont play with rubber or rope toys so need a good strong plush toy, this fits the bill. He loves throwing this arround and it has stood the test of time, no rips and still squeaks!

Needs fabric changes 18 Jan 2013

This toy is fun and interesting, with its different sounding squeakers (honking, squawking and normal squeak), and my 8 month old puppy loves it, but it needs some changes to be a safe toy. My dog does not destroy or de-stuff toys - she'll chew away and they just get slobbered. So her toys last, but there lies the main problem with this one.

The biggest issue is the "back hair" - Kyjen went for cuteness with the hairy/furry back. The fibres come loose so easily - it's like the back 'sheds' its coat. I've seen the fibres balled up in her mouth and there was a bald patch from fur that had completely come out. Underneath I could see what poor quality it was - the hair is held in by loose stitching, with a strange clingwrap-like plastic underneath it, then the stuffing. I had to sew it over to hide the patch, but the problem remains. Every time before I let my dog have this toy, I have to brush my fingers over the hair (I'll always collect some) and then gently pluck at the loose hairs - the fine fibres come out easily, but more alarmingly, tufts of the thicker, black fibres also come out with very little effort. I've seen hair fibres in her mouth just by her trying to chew at the squeakers, she's not actively trying to pull at the hair. My puppy has had trouble with hairballs and has required cat hairball laxative to clear a blockage. Perhaps this would not be a problem with a larger dog given its wider digestive tract, but for my 7 kg/15 lb spitz, I don't feel safe leaving this around for her. If Kyjen had used the normal plush fabric like on the front and legs, this would not be an issue. I'm considering whether it's worthwhile to give Tony a 'makeover' - cut down all that back hair and completely cover it with fleece (she's never made a hole in fleece before) or some other fabric. If I did that I'm worried I'd puncture the squeakers because I'd have to sew it down in a lot of places.

Another problem was the shorts - took her about 5 minutes before she'd shredded the shorts - no doubt a larger, more aggressive chewer could have them torn apart within a minute. I had to completely cut off the shorts so she wouldn't just swallow all the material, so it's naked Tony now.

The reason I'd think about modifying this toy myself is that my dog does like it. Her all time favourite toy is the Kyjen mallard with 16 squeakers, but with this one she goes nuts for the strange sounds (like when I step on it and she hears honking/squeaking/squawking all at once) and loves to curl up and rest her head on it.

Additional 8th Feb : I gave Tony his "makeover" last week - completely covered the back with polar fleece. It was a hassle to sew up, but now my dog can grab, chew and squeak away without the worry of hairs falling out all the time. I wouldn't do it again though, and definitely don't recommend this unless Kyjen changes the fabric. I've uploaded photos of various stages of Tony's hair loss and the final result - he's now got a pasty yellow back!

Not for strong chewers 18 Jan 2013

Bought two of these for our dogs and within a day they had bald spots and holes. Based on the description we thought this toy would be more durable. If your dog is very gentle with his/her toys this might work for you.
Love this toy!! 29 May 2014

Our dog received Hank for Christmas (another tuff guy option that's available). He loved him so much that he wound up in two pieces. The squeakers are great and our German Shepherd had Hank for months before he became cut in two. This toy makes us laugh so much I think we have as much fun with it as our dog. Was so glad it was on Amazon as we were worried we might not be able to find a replacement for Hank. Great price for a great dog toy that lasts and Amazon Prime was a bonus!
Totally Ripped! Great squeakers but fell apart right away 13 Feb 2014

Hank is totally ripped! All puns aside, this toy is great but my little 30 pound terrier mix ripped his head open and stuffing came out only a few minutes after giving it to her. If they strengthened the stitching I would give it 5 stars.

On the plus side my dog doesn't care as long as it still squeaks. I give this toy a week.

My girls are squeaky girls. And he's loaded with them. Every ab, arms, legs. He's great! I think I'll buy another to store in the closet.
