Grab yours while you can. Books about Kurt Jackson sell like hot cakes. Little wonder. You'll marvel at every painting beautifully produced. There are 118 pages of fabulous works of art - paintings and a few sculptures. Jackson's work epitomises the modern artist - traditional in his choice of landscape as a subject yet using mixed media (often anything to hand like that morning's newspaper), the whole is suffused with emotion; a sense of time and place, of belonging. You could step into a Jackson painting, smell the sea, hear the wind blow through the trees, watch the ripples on the water. Movement is captured in such a way as to make the viewer feel that he is watching the scene pass by. Yes I am biased and think everyone should own, if not one of his paintings, then one of his books. This is a fantastic catalogue of recent works, mainly of Cornwall with little in the way of description as you would expect in this type of catalogue but it is a pictorial feast. It looks and feels like a book and is one that I shall treasure. Highly recommended. This review first appeared on yarnsandfabrics website.
